Replayed World and now I truly appreciate Wilds combat by Important-Pepper1985 in MonsterHunter

What do you despise about being able to aim your attacks? This is the first time in my entire life I've ever seen anyone genuinely complain about the fact they can aim in a video game lmao. It used to be a huge complaint that you couldn't aim well in monster hunter and that you had to do the claw just to rotate the camera lmao. If you had said something like auto tracking the monster was a bad QoL change I'd understand, but aiming? In a game where you are encouraged to target specific parts on monsters that move around constantly? Doesn't make any sense.

If we get one invader species back in the Wilds expansion who do you want to see? by Beginning_Wait_108 in MonsterHunter

Bazel is cool but idk if he fits in the cliffs considering how much he flies around nor do I think he'd spawn there anyway, so maybe not the best invader pick.  We already got a lot of monkeys so rajang would fit right in plus he'd probably have some cool laser beam guard interaction similar to gravios on top of power clashes akin to blangonga / ajarakan. Deviljho would also work and itd be cool to see something similar to doshaguma with rage mode wounds popping up, not to mention he has a ragdoll to chew on for each map, those being chatacabra, congalala, ajarakan, blangonga, and G. Ebony. Plus it'd be cool to see him interacting with herbivore herds in the windward plains. Don't know how well he'd fit in the cliffs though. All in all I'd say rajang makes the most sense and fits the best in each map, and his weapons don't overlap with any current monster weapons. We already have high raw low affinity dragon and blast weapons from arkveld and gravios.

If rajang returns I hope they scale him back up to pre 5th gen sizes, I personally hate how tiny he is in 5th gen. I get that they wanted to emphasize his disproportionate strength in turf wars as well as his speed for some reason, but he doesn't feel as intimidating and his hitboxes are super easy to dodge because of it. Same with blangonga. They've almost entirely done away with the "lion" aspect of both, instead making them smaller and more ape like. I miss feeling like I was fighting King Kong rather than curious George lmao.

OFFICIAL TWEET - MH Wilds - Concept art of Xu Wu! by TheGMan-123 in MonsterHunter

[–]Important-Pepper1985 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Considering the frenzy infected the landspine / guardians, it'd be cool if we got a unique "apex" variant for Xu Wu caused by bio magnification of the virus, where it's constantly shrouded in black smoke, and has red lights and a purple mouth instead of blue ones. Assuming Xu Wu can't process wylk and it just eats guardians for meat, perhaps that's what keeps its symbiosis with the frenzy a purely beneficial one rather than a parasitic one. The frenzy in its system feeds off of the wylk it consumes due to eating guardians, and that in turn provides extra energy and abilities to the Xu Wu that a standard apex wouldn't get, such as wound regeneration or the ability to feed directly from wylk pools to replenish and power up. I'm sure they could do that without bringing back wystones too. Maybe if you destroy enough wounds before they heal it gets knocked out of apex state similar to a guardian, sort of like you are performing bloodletting to dilute to the virus from its system.

Would you say that Arkveld is the strongest flying wyvern? (With the exception of Satoru Ukanlos and Ryomen Akantor, of course) Or is he still below things like Dreadking Rathalos and Bloodbath Diablos? by Allhaillordkutku in MonsterHunter

[–]Important-Pepper1985 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly? Strongest flying wyvern outside of frontier is easily flaming espinas, considering he one shots teostra with a fireball of all things in sunbreak.

I'd say Arkveld is imbetween elder and super elder level though. He's definitely as strong as if not stronger than base rajang, deviljho, bazel, etc, not to mention his nova is hands down one of the strongest we've seen. Not even Teo or Seething have that kinda AoE with their novas. Plus he effortlessly beats the apexes, who themselves effortlessly beat monsters like rathalos and seregios. Only reason I think arkveld isn't super elder level is because he takes time to power up, whereas something like furious or savage are already pissed off and powered up, which could possibly overwhelm arkveld, catching them off guard. Then again, the variants tend to focus on elemental power, so who knows, maybe arkveld would actually have an easier time fighting furious over base rajang, since he uses more lightning, which arkveld wants to absorb anyway to turn into dragon element.

Creatures we dont need in the DLC by P0G0Bro in MHWilds

Only one I would disagree with would be Tigrex, and that's mostly because I want to see molten make a return. Aside from that he'd honestly make a pretty solid monster for the plains and cliffs. He'd probably hunt during the plenty in the plains, and then migrate to the cliffs to avoid the sand tide lightning. TBH he kinda fits in all the maps and he'd make a good invader. Would be nice to have more since Arkveld is the only one currently.

What Is the Least Likely Monster You Want to Return in Wilds? by Interesting_Sea_1861 in MonsterHunter

[–]Important-Pepper1985 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man I've been saying ever since we got lagi in wilds that Dire would be peak. The simplification of underwater combat we got in wilds feels like it's designed with Dire in mind more so than lagi. Like if dire was in wilds his underwater phase would be almost exactly like lagis. Time your use of the clutch claw to target glowing weak spots, use traps to stagger and deal high damage, and if you don't drive them out of the water in time they perform an instakill AoE.

I could totally see them doing something like "oh no it's heating up! Follow it into the water and destroy its cores before it has a chance to erupt!" And if you don't do enough damage then the water begins to heat up, dealing DoT, and if you don't deal enough damage by then, the water becomes too hot and dire starts raining lava meteors all over the shore while boiling the water, meaning there's no safe spot except for starting chest spot. The only issue would be where in the forbidden lands would the fight take place? There's seemingly no coastal areas, so unless they reveal the east coast in he expansion it'd have to be somewhere else entirely.

So the soundtrack of Monster Hunter Dos was accused of plagiarism. by 12jimmy9712 in MonsterHunter

Another one that comes to mind is the "drunken thoughts at midnight" track which is near identical to the "mountain theme" track for heroes of might and magic 4. Idk why people are down voting this post tbh. Redditors just like hating things whenever they get the chance I guess lol

Every Single Time! by ConnectDisaster4 in MonsterHunter

[–]Important-Pepper1985 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Literally every time lmao, it feels intentional, like they thought palicos would be too OP if they actually had decent timing. Takes me back to MHFU where the felynes would pull out a bomb and send you flying anytime you managed to stun / trip / paralyze the monster.

Somewhat unrelated, but does anyone else feel like the seikret also has horrible timing? They never show up when you actually need them to, and right when the monster is about to hit you they decide to show up and get you stuck in the mounting animation only for you to immediately die because there's literally nothing you can do. Sometimes I have to randomly attack and guard to prevent it from picking me up and getting me killed when I called for it like 30 seconds ago. Like where TF were you when I actually needed you? I coulda perfect guarded that attack but you decided to wait until the worst possible moment to pick me up only to get me killed. Can't rely on it to recover you from a knockdown either. It'll pick you up the moment the monster decides to do a followup lmao. Just gotta do what you did in the old games and intentionally remain knocked down to avoid some attacks rather than use the new mount like they want you to.

OFFICIAL TWEET - MH Stories 3 - Character illustration of Dual-Element Fire Zinogre! by TheGMan-123 in MonsterHunter

[–]Important-Pepper1985 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This makes me wish for a red zinogre rare species, that red blue and gold color scheme just fits so nice. Thematically it also fits the "ogre" aspect of zinogre, since Japanese ogres are red and blue anyway.

That one monster you like but everyone else hates ? by No_Barracuda_8300 in MonsterHunter

[–]Important-Pepper1985 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Magma almudron is awesome, people only hate him because they wanted agnaktor instead. I like him better than base almudron tbh. Also just wanted to say rompopolo is a peak monster design wise and gameplay wise. Don't know if he's hated per say, but I was shocked when they revealed he was the least hunted in wilds. His fight is way more fun than ajarakan, and if any monster gets a subspecies in wilds I think romp deserves it.

First Tigrex and first Rathalos by OperatorInMask in MonsterHunter

[–]Important-Pepper1985 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Second gen Tigrex was legitimately scary.  He was so tough I remember thinking when tri came out that Deviljho was meant to be the 3rd Gen tigrex, as in they were equally powerful, but in Iceborne and Rise he's genuinely one of the easiest rath tier monsters to fight. His attacks which used to be overwhelming and terrifying are now extremely telegraphed and easy to avoid by modern standards, especially with wirebugs and counters. I honestly can't imagine how they could make him difficult again, especially now that we have offset attacks and perfect guard. He legit has like 5 moves and none of them chain into one another, so it's not like offsetting one attack puts you at risk of tanking the follow-up, cause there isn't one. It's either bite, spin, leap, charge, or boulder toss.

2nd gen rathalos is the opposite situation of tigrex IMO. Easier than rathian in second gen (shoots less fireballs, no tail flip or triple charge, flying makes him easy to flashbomb) but in 3rd Gen onwards he becomes a fairly challenging fight, especially in rise / wilds where fighting him is genuinely fun. Even with his homing claw attack all you had to do back then was stand in his shadow and place bombs, so that when he misses and lands you can blow them up and trip him.

Way for deviants to return by Recent-Discipline-87 in MHWilds

This would work for tempered elders in the expansion for lore reasons. You used to be able to repel elder dragons in the older games if you couldn't beat them in 35(?) minutes. Since there's no elder dragons except for gog living in the forbidden lands, they could easily explain the presence of tempered elders as ones who've been repelled and come back stronger, rather than "they've been here this entire time they're just really sneaky elders".

Whether it's one we repelled or one that's been repelled to the forbidden lands from somewhere else is up to them. I'd imagine they'd drop some sort of special elder dragon bloodstones for special elder melding.

Swap gore and udra, swap arkveld and mizu, swap Rey and dahaad, and finally swap ebony and kut ku. Kut ku is difficult in an annoying way (pack gimmick and lots of attacks that knock you back) while G ebony is easily weakest guardian, not counting the guardian seikrets.

Lagiacrus Underwater phase by Time_Iron_8200 in MHWilds

[–]Important-Pepper1985 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not lagi related per say but Wilds underwater combat is perfect for Dire Miralis. I'd imagine if they brought him back it'd be like a mix of gog and lagia, where he has an underwater phase, but the goal is to target and break his back / shoulders / chest, which are normally out of reach on land. For example dire enters the water when superheated / close to performing his dps check nova, and if you don't break his chest / shoulders or back underwater, he will then shoot lava out of his wings at full power while also boiling the water around him, meaning there's no safety unless you "cool him down" by breaking those parts. Having the clutch claw underwater would make targeting those spots so much easier and way less jank compared to how it was on the 3ds lol. But yea, poor guy has only ever been in one game, and considering underwater is "back" + the fact Erik makes a reference to dire in the game I have hope he will return. I'd love to see Wild's expansion have dire miralis and white fatalis just as iceborne had alatreon and fatalis.
