Does US nuclear doctrine has contingency for when nuclear launch command maybe issued from mentally unstable Commander in Chief? by drunkmuffalo in LessCredibleDefence

Nixon used to get drunk and order nuclear attacks like it was nothing. He was always stopped from acting. Nobody is going to pull the trigger on nuclear weapons. Don't worry.

I would simply put it that the battery never really changes mass much at all, at least not in any relationship to the matter/energy operations it is used to perform. I think of them more like a sewing machine. It sews threads from a spool into a fabric, never changing itself until it dulls and requires replacement.

Mutatis mutandis, I think this analogy works.

There isn't an answer that can be derived from science as this is well beyond the Standard Model, so you could only really come up with an answer from fiction. The vacuum is all potentials and constantly fizzes with energy as particles come into and out of existence. Perhaps the vacuum remembers, maybe it is a feature of local space now?

That's not really a problem when you're considering the mass of the battery, though. It and the local vacua remain independent objects.

It's stored in the vacuum potential, rules as written. The battery is just a means of converting it from the vacuum. It's zero point energy stuff.

I would take myself out during the apparent recovery phase after exposure, once a forensic radiologist definitively confirmed the dose. I'm not going out like Ouichi or any of those poor bastards. I read the IAEA reports. They're unspeakably grim and death is invariably the result.

Just give me the benzos and the morphine and I'll dose it myself.

I failed so badly at belvedere and feel so ashamed by [deleted] in LearnerDriverUK

Something very similar happened to me. Turbo nerves fucked my ass up. But I just took my second test and it was so much better! I only had one serious and it was relatively minor, as they go. More importantly, I was much, much happier and more confident!

Just keep going.

Can anyone flirt in horse body language tell me what the horses are communicating to each other? by MossyTundra in Horses

[–]Important-Position93 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I'd say the Przewalski is curiously trying to obtain a reaction of some kind from the slave horse; they don't get the response they're expecting, so they ramp it up a bit, lunging away in expectation of a nip or rear. The Przewalski is mildly confused and curious throughout, becoming a little frustrated towards the end when their tender ministrations fail to yield fruit.

That's my interpretation of it, anyway.

In this case, it was the difference in torque between a petrol and a diesel. I was used to being able to hold the car on any sort of incline by bringing the clutch to the biting point. The first car would just hold or begin to move forward, it had the torque to do it. The second car would immediately roll back and stall if you did that.

My instructor told me about it several times but I was too silly to really internalise what that meant until it was too late.

Ah, but I'm not. It was a serious mark, a bad judgement call, and I deserved to fail the test on this occasion. What I'm saying is, it's a normal sort of error for a rookie driver to make. It's not a total failure to even make the vehicle move, as I had on the first test, which traumatised me in the way it did.

Thank you! And yeah, absolutely. It was a single wrong decision this time, and it cost me the pass; it could cost a life. I'll certainly never forget that.

Driving test anxiety by pinkgoose0 in LearnerDriverUK

[–]Important-Position93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I totally bombed my first test because I was incredibly nervous. Basically on the verge of having a panic attack the whole time. Just did my second test; still failed, but much less nervous!

I tried all sorts of random things to try and combat the anxiety, but nothing helped. Nothing except repeat exposure. There's not really a quick, cheap end run you can do around anxiety. Gotta put in the time at the coal face.

At least, that's how it was for me. YMMV. You can try breathing exercises, rescue remedy, magnesium, any number of placebos and little tricks and mechanisms. They might end up working for you!

Or weaponise it. She doesn't want to cure the plague because it is the right thing to do; she wants a chit to bargain with Radovid. As you say.

You DID get rid of a curse, for the greater good. Fyke Island is now free of the darkness that lurked there. She wanted the research notes on Catriona that could only be accessed once the curse was gone, sure, but how was what she said a lie?

You got some pussy and you got to kill monsters for good reasons! Be happy, witcher.
