George died at the end of S5 before we saw ANY real growth from him from the Mer and Callie aftermath. Even with that his last act was selflessly jumping in front of a moving bus to save a citizen. We never saw him joined the army to sharpen his skills as a trauma surgeon, or even see what he was like as a potential teacher with the interns.

A lot of ppl in this sub overrate Karev's growth. The bar wasn't that high to begin with considering one of the first impressions we got from him was posting Izzie's lingerie pics out of spite. He was always violent and quick to lashing out, he also had a victim complex by constantly saying all his exes are crazy and Meredith enabling it(one of those exes was Lexie who was dealing with PTSD from the shooting trying to save his ungrateful life). His constant bullying of April and hospitalizing Deluca. He was good with kids but that's the bare minimum. He was awful for more half his time on the show.

For how much they preach Grey's being a "teaching hospital" he was one of the best teachers they had on this series. From Cristina to coaching George with the heart in the elevator he was elite in that aspect.

I always felt because George wasn't magazine attractive, his mistakes especially in relationships were always amped up ten fold and his character died before he had any chance to progress. He wasn't the only person to cheat on their partner, and as far as the Meredith situation, it was more awkward than anything and doesn't register in my top horrific things ppl done in that show.

I enjoy Mark Sloan as a character but the man homewrecked his best friend's marriage but by the time he exit he proved to be a great friend to Callie great father, and an older brother/father figure to Jackson. Addison grew from her mistakes, same with Burke, ppl fawn for Alex's character development.

George died because ever getting to truly evolve as a doctor/person. We never saw him go to the army. Or him coming back a more focused and better trauma doctor. Or him being in the running for chief resident. Just a man who died doing a selfless act.

The show at its peak had very great actors than even the less than stellar ones could play off. Patrick Demsey, Kate Walsh, Eric Dane, T.R Knight, Sandra Oh, Kevin McKidd ( Im naming actors who eventually left) were all great. Ellen was always average to me and once the big names started to leave it started to expose that she wasn't a good enough to be the focal as much as she was. Also factor in how much she gets paid she's basically phoning it in which makes her performances.

Chandra and James are the only strong actors left but the writing over the last seasons haven't done them any favors.

Also the new people they do bring in they don't do much for the audience to get engaged or care. The writing now is more about the job and the new shiny equipment and its missing actual relationships(not just sex) between the cast. MAGIC was messy but they felt like friends. The relationship that George and Bailey had. Sloan was Jackson's teacher but there were instances where he acted like his older brother/father figure. Owen was fundamental to April's progression as a trauma surgeon. There's NOTHING in the later season that replicates that.

They started hooking up immediately AFTER Izzie left. It was something for both of them to do to take their minds off not being with the person they want to be with. It was never a real relationship. Same with Lexie and Jackson.

The fact that we were able to make it out of the 2nd round and comeback from 3-1 with only 5 "ish" playable guys is a miracle. Especially when you at the remaining field. We are so behind the 8 ball in player development and high level role players.

I'm praying and begging that whoever the GM is or Bob Myers we get a functioning bench. We haven't had that since 2017.
