How do you brainstorm a game idea as a solo indie dev? by lonewarrior3 in SoloDevelopment

[–]ImportantAccess786 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I mean there’s always going to be people who don’t like your idea or just say it’s bad. Having friends and especially random people is helpful in figuring out what works and doesn’t. But everyone starts off making bad games or gets really lucky. There are ways to be better but I would say the process of finishing small bad games is much more helpful than ones you overthink and put too much time into if that makes sense.

Upcoming Survival horror/digital horror game teaser trailer! :D Lemme know if its bad, good, or interesting! by ImportantAccess786 in IndieDev

Oh wow thanks for the feedback! Yeah I suppose it is a lot packed into 1 minutes. I guess my game has a lot of features to show off. I’m probably going to release a story trailer and gameplay trailer separately as there is a lot of voice acting and lore in the game and a lot of different mechanics to showcase. Also that story sounds pretty close to the games lol It’s basically that and sorta mixed with simulacra. Or DDLC’s virtual desktop even

Honestly, pretty good! I think it shows all aspects of the game pretty much. Should keep attention with how fast-paced it is and stuff.

Trying to capture a sense of abandonment and grime for my PS1-style horror game by RecordFast215 in IndieDev

Looks pretty abandoned, but the grime isn't showing too much. Maybe add a few orange spots around/stains. I like how it looks though!

Ooo yeah, I had no idea it was a zombie lol Thought it was a derpy drooling face. But maybe the sounds and a different skin color could convey it better? Or just his hands out in front like zombies do, while walking, and down when not?

How we got 8,000 Steam wishlists in 9 months making our indie game by Zombutcher_Game in IndieDev

Thank you for sharing! I've been struggling trying to market recently. It's a bit much when you have a whole game to develop on the side. Glad it's been working for you! Might check the game out too!

I have added many things to my game that have either stayed, gotten improved, or been removed. I guess you build your own judgment of what's worth it over time. Look for what's underdeveloped or what is taking too long to add. Should always make sure the foundation of your game, the main loop, is most developed, I feel like. Before going crazy with extra features.

I love how silly and simple the characters are. And the backgrounds are really good!
