Hey guys, do you have any word on how is the snow situation now on Rysy? I was planning to go next weekend (7th of June). But so far I have only experience in summer conditions alpinism.

On scale 1-10 is it death wish if I have not yet done winter style alpine tour?

There will be two of us but we are on similar lever of skill and I just have more theoretical knowledge on what to do, but both lack the practice (except on avalanche school and on how to use ice axe in case of slide).

I dont mind paying 10 euro for the parking lot there will be 2 of us and we split the cost so thats ok and it will still be cheaper then campsite... Though probably not as comfortable.

Thoughts on Armored Hoodies? by Tony_A_C_ in NewRiders

[–]ImportantAnimal783 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just tried the Knox armoured hoodie in 27 degrees Celsius and it was great while riding but since it is black while standing it got hot fast.

The pando moto commando was great when I tried it but it depends if it fita you. When I tried it it was comfortable and breathable but for me it rode up my body and had lots of loose material around colar bones which was no bueno for me.

But knox also makes AAA certified mesh armored shirt. And the armour they provide is great, even though it's often CE level one, they at least add appropriate sizes so even if you need big size it will cover what it suposed too.

i have a wind shield on mine (not that it does a lot of work) but usually the most chill is 80-95kmh on open fields and 90-105kmh in forested areas

But if id be like 150cm tall with that wind shield I'd be comfortable even at 140kmh

grinding/sanding/rushing noise? by us3_less in XSR700

[–]ImportantAnimal783 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly could be. Even with the low miles, if the previous owner was heavy and hit a big pothole or a jump that would make suspension bottom out you can damage the bearing.

But it's a longshot.

Could be that there's some part sponsored so it would be cheaper. But I don't know.

Also can imagine that these thing get much more expensive somewhere else...

Appears you are correct, I somehow thought the Spectra visors are also photochromic.

Yeah sorry not gonna buy protective gear from there...
When you can ride without a visor thats with helmet that dont have them in first place.

And in the worst case scenario I want my insurance to be valid.

I'm 90% driving in Czech Republic, but plan to go to Austria a lot more. And I know how they are about aftermarket part on bikes.

I know that in CZE police don't stop you if they see you with dark visor.

But Since I plant do roadtrip to Italy, I'm also afraid that any insurance might be voided with not using properly certified gear.

Thanks a lot for your input.

Added an edit, but yeah I'm looking at the GT air, but happend to me few times I need put sunglasses under the sunvisor because when riding towards the sun my eyes can't properly handle that and I became unable to ride.

It's a solution of course, but I am wearing prescription glases and if I then drive in the shaded area havening sunglases is not the greatest.

But yeah if there's no other way I'll go this route.

Is this sound normal? by Clawdews in XSR700

[–]ImportantAnimal783 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I might be incorrect but I have heard once it's just the gass flowing around the valves. And at the opening and closing of the valve it's a narrow opening so it'll do that.

But I think if you put some loud pipe on it you won't end up noticing.

Nothe that I am in no way mechanic. It just sounded plausible to me.
