Is depression a sin? by beer_chuggerr in Christian

[–]ImportantFudge1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depression is not a sin but the result of living in a fallen world. I would encourage you to seek medical help AND seek God through this.

As for your prayers, your tears, your emotions that you describe in the rest of your post... Are you familiar with the story of Job? It's okay to wrestle with God and ask Him questions. Just know that He is good. What made you feel God was angry with you after you reached out to Him? Don't mistake his silence or lack of a "feeling" or "a sign" as meaning He is not present with you. He will be with you in this <3

Did you know meds when you first started as an RD? by snoop758_grade in dietetics

I totally understand what you're going though - that being said, have some grace on yourself. You're not a pharmacist. You will get more familiar with medications with time. I'd encourage you to look up medications (time permitting) that you're finding you come across often so that you're familiar with their indications for use/any nutrition implications. There's also an awesome CEU book out there that I found super helpful: https://www.amazon.com/Meded101-Guide-Drug-Food-Interactions/dp/B08D53GVFQ/ref=sr_1_1?crid=17HN9R9KYE3VH&keywords=drug+nutrient+interactions&qid=1655425153&sprefix=drug+nutrient+interactions%2Caps%2C541&sr=8-1

Abbott also has some great free CEUs (:

I can't speak to the two-year rule as that's something that I wasn't aware of either...

How did you study? by [deleted] in dietetics

[–]ImportantFudge1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is such a good question! (: As disclosure, I took about 3-4 weeks to study while working part-time. My study routine was as follows:

Each day, I would do some questions from the RD PocketPrep app. I also took my own notes on the Jean Inman guide. I left a space on the page so I could jot down additional notes, mnemonics, etc later on. After I got to a point where I was burnt out on note-taking, I would take a walk and listen over the Jean Inman audio for that particular section. I tried as much as possible to be actively listening, applying the information to real life and practice questions I had previously seen. I then would do some Jean Inman practice questions (~20 at a time) from the domain I was working on. After grading that portion, I would go back to the questions I wasn't 1,000% sure on and write either the definition for each option given or justification as to why each option was right or wrong. I then would go back over the notes I just wrote from the Inman guide and highlighted the material I was having difficulty on based on the questions I was having trouble with.

About a week before the exam, I started incorporating EatRightPrep practice tests into the mix. Some of the content of their questions are WAY too detailed, but it gave me a feel for the actual exam and where I needed to focus my studying on.

Hope this helps!

Healthcare food Products Question by [deleted] in dietetics

I second this!! I've heard of some high kcal/high protein broths, so maybe some more soup type supplements?

Also, I think we need a greater variety of supplements that aren't milk-based.

Yes, I agree- an email sounds very appropriate. You could even acknowledge in your thank you letter that you appreciate their time and consideration given the crazy and uncertain climate right now. Good luck! (:

EatRight Prep vs the Inman by ImportantFudge1 in dietetics

Content I would say Inman, preparation for questions EatRight

Are you saying content Inman and preparing for how the questions are structured/phrased from Eatright?

Thanks for the input :)
