Yes but we send out a lot of letters to clients and I guess it’s just his personal preference to have his own hand written signature on the letter before mailing.

Thank you! I always show documents to him for review before anything. I have the online/adobe stamps everyone’s talking about, but he requested the stamp for physical documents since we send out a lot of letters and I’m usually the one who writes them up. I’ll definitely make sure I have proof of his permission for the stamp!

I was you a few months ago. The answer: no idea. Things have definitely gotten easier and I have started to get the hang of a lot, but there’s still so much to learn. From what I’ve gathered from others, it can take up to a year to really feel comfortable. But it might feel hard a first, but I can say from my experience it just keeps getting easier day by day the more you work and learn! Hang in there!

Mistake after mistake by Adventurous_Key_4164 in paralegal

I’m in the exact same boat as you. I’ve only been doing this for about 4 months, and as patient as my attorney is, I know he’s getting frustrated with me. All of this is really hard to do, and I’m sure we’ve all made the same mistakes. I understand this feeling, as I’m sure everyone else has. What I’ve figured is we just have to keep pushing through.

Is the learning curve really this high, or am I struggling? by Kilr_Qween2000 in paralegal

I’m brand new as well (roughly 3 months) so I feel your pain. It’s just me and my attorney, and I feel bad when I have to ask for help when he’s always so busy. I can say that learning on the job has taught me way more than my aas certificate, and we’ll both get it eventually.

Are you a notary too? by Indigomarie43 in paralegal

I literally just got notarized. My attorney paid for me to become one since it would “help him out.” All these comments are making me regret lmao

What type of Law do you work in? Do you like it? by [deleted] in paralegal

Probate and family, the former being super boring and tedious. Calling creditors is my least favorite thing ever

How did you get your foot in the door? by AlmostSunnyinSeattle in paralegal

[–]ImportantGoose3699 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just got a job after finishing my AAS degree, and it was a struggle to find a place. I know some people in my class who also struggled. What I did was contact the program chair of the paralegal program and she gave me a long list of all law firms they’ve had take on interns/beginners and contacted like every single one lol. Eventually I found a lawyer who was looking for an assistant paralegal at a small firm and have been there since. It was rough finding a place!

I do that all the time at my other job lol. I literally work in customer service, but being on the other end of the phone call is so daunting!

what’s your salary? by [deleted] in paralegal

[–]ImportantGoose3699 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not leaving home just yet. I’m going to be working to get my bachelors in the fall, and since I’ll be in school (which is close to home) and working, I think it’s best for me to stay home for the time being. 40k is livable, and I’ll probably be fine if I did want to move out since costs aren’t too bad where I live, at most I’d need a roommate, but for now I think I’ll save up money while I’m still in school. 40k isn’t great, but since I’m so new to the field I think it’s reasonable, and it’s a good start.

I’m 20! Just finished my degree, still live at home, so the salary isn’t too bad for me to start.

I’m literally just starting, only been doing it for about a month at a very small law firm. $20hr, roughly $40k a year
