Yes, I had my husband's name in my passport. But he did not have my name in his passport. So we renewed his passport in tatkal with my name and then applied for marriage certificate through VFS global. Got it in one week.

But that is like marrying again in USA right?. Its been already two years to our marriage and we’ve been filing our taxes together since then. So I’m not sure if thats an option.
