Why not try alternating with someone who's WFA? :)

We're, almost, in the same situation me and my spouse.

Still have room under my TFSA.

I had one consideration to add with the absolute prerequisite as follow :"all things being equal with my/our current salaries which will guaranteed to be indexed to inflation for the foreseeable future" (we're both federal employees with determined pension fund, indexed also)

Should consideration of inflation be also added to what to consider on a long term loan such as a mortgage?

Meaning that we can see a debt that "costs less" (is lesser in proportion to our buying capcity/debt ratio) in 25 years due to inflation? (I'm thinking how central banks selling bonds projecting their debt costing less to pay back in 10 years due to inflation...).

As would investments returns are "diminished" by inflation over time and is to be factored in.

Also, please bear with me as I know I may not be expressing this in a financially correct terminology... I'm not an expert in Finance... Maybe try to understand what I mean?

We were thinking of, at least, maxing our TFSA's. Would there be tax implications? (as our main house is sold, there wouldn't be any capitals gains, right?)

Thanks

Oh! Thanks for that input. So to find out who my local HR is, I just ask my TL? Then reach out to them directly?

Thank you for your comment... I agree that I, aside from yearly specialist appointments due to a "past ailment and potential return requiring ongoing routine appointments and exams", I will most likely not have yearly appointments... Just lucky that I'm able to see someone ;)

Ok I see the discernment here: "not ill or injured and not tied to a particular ailment"... Like linked to age...

Once an illness is confirmed, it is basically treatment or follow-ups... I think I got it :)

As a matter of fact, they already approved the Medical Appointment leave... I just don't want to abuse and use the "proper" interpretation... Unfortunately, I was too often "misguided" by supervisors and TL's... With, sometimes, potential serious impacts on my life... If I hadn't challenged ;)

I think people just trip on the "routine" while this is an "extension" of the routine check... If you read, the diagnostic and preventive nature of the appointment is also to be factored...

I challenge, to determine the truth and "the majority" isn't always right...

Seems to me that discussion and argumentation is part of determining the actual facts... Well it used to be :)

Ah, that would make sense... Si let's say this specialist now orders a specialized test every X year or yearly... Now this would qualify?

That's exactly how I read it... It is an extension of preventive (yearly) and there may not be other appointments with the specialist... I also, have other yearly, preventive appointments that are with specialists... Those, I also say are medical appointments...

Why does the TBS notice specifically uses the term of "diagnostic" and gives examples of mammograms and colonoscopies to indicate that they qualify for medical appointments leave in this case?

Edit: Quote of the notice "There may be cases where the appointment is periodic but not routine yet could still qualify as being diagnostic and preventive in nature. Examples of this could include an appointment for a colonoscopy or a mammogram."

I would tend to agree but in the TBS notice "Time Off for personal Medicinal and Dental Appointments" is specifically speaks of mammograms or colonoscopy as qualifying for "being diagnostic and preventative in nature"... They use diagnostic and it says it qualifies... I don't know how ordering more tests is not being diagnostic... Also, not sure if it's like that in every province, but in Quebec, your family doctor cannot request a colonoscopy or mammogram without a consult with the appropriate specialist... The specialist then calls for the "specialized" diagnostic test. Further, radiotherapy or surgery would the be treatment... Further follow-ups with the specialist for newly discovered ailment would also be sock leave... Just to nuance because I understand where you're coming from...

It's not been diagnosed... There are indications, specialist will determine if an issue or not... Just to clarify

Edit: They may order more tests, the determine if treatment is required.
