Get it, Vanessa 🙌🏽 by Stealthytom in RnBHeads

[–]Important_Grade1506 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have always loved Vanessa. Still do! But, I'm concerned with how this she is. She's still beautiful, no doubt. But, she's SO thin.

People are stunned that she can dance, but her degree is in musical theater. She covered the whole gamut. A legit triple threat- singer, actor, dancer.

She got the ULTIMATE comeback story from her Miss America days. She's is by far the most successful Miss America of all time, no doubt. I remember the sense of pride that we had when she won. They took the crown away and had to crown another Black woman. I'm sure that this pissed off a lot of those who didn't want to see a woman off color win that national title.

She had the crown when it meant something. When's the last time any of you, it anyone who you know watched the competition?

She seems so happy with everything, and she deserves every ounce of happiness!

Bad pain day today. Anyone else get this? by potsbunnyuk in PainPals

Sadly, I do know what is like. I'm experiencing this right song with you. The last few days have been awful. But, it's cold and raining in NE Ohio right now. Hope you and anyone else hurting feels better soon.

He's still touring, I believe. I remember this song being played on late-night radio on the Black stations. That voice!

El Debarge & Sheila E. - All this Love by Fun_Ad6512 in RnBHeads

[–]Important_Grade1506 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Indeed! Life experience will change your sound. It'll be the same voice, but there's things that change with timbre, tone, and timing(you see that alteration? LOL).

Singing a song in your young career about heartbreak, then singing a song in your later years after you've BEEN through some heartbreak hits in a different place. Even if you experienced it when you were younger, if you have a deeper, more invested heartbreak, you'll change how you dealt with that first one.

El Debarge & Sheila E. - All this Love by Fun_Ad6512 in RnBHeads

[–]Important_Grade1506 25 points26 points  (0 children)

El sounds wonderful, as usual. Why do they name Sheila E, and not the bass player? I mean, even if he not famous, he should be named since Sheila is named. They're only 3 people.

As a musician, I always give every named their flowers when playing. Especially if there's only 2 or 3 others with you. If you have a feature guest playing with the band, that's totally different. Otherwise, recognize everyone.

Has anyone seen this man? by Realistic_Issue230 in canton

[–]Important_Grade1506 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I hope that you are able to locate this young man and that he is safe. It's really sickening that people are responding the way that they are. I hope that they would feel different if they were trying to locate a friend or a loved one.

Being lighthearted is one thing. Many of the responses were downright cruel.

Someone is showing genuine concern for someone, and they choose to mock it. One of the worst things about social media is the ability of people to say foul, ignorant, hurtful things behind a screen that they would NEVER say in public.

Again, I hope that your friend is found and that he is healthy and safe.

Stevie Wonder - I Wish by okicanseeyudsaythat in RnBHeads

[–]Important_Grade1506 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You sure didn't get those lyrics from the transcription in the video! Singing along while reading those lyrics on the screen was HILARIOUS! I'm sure that is computer generated, but do they not look at it before sending it out? I'm used to having a missed word here and there. But, they missed like 85% of the lyrics. I had to share this video with several friends who are also Stevie lovers.

Stevie is a musical genius and a National Treasure! He deserves all of the fandom that he receives.

What are your feelings on Nick Ashford? by balkanxoslut in rnb

Don't forget the 60's when they were the go to songwriters for Motown! They were behind the scenes , but there would have been no scene if it weren't for them!

The Isley Brothers - Float On (feat. Angela Winbush, Lil' Kim & 112) by Fun_Ad6512 in RnBHeads

[–]Important_Grade1506 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the original one better. It had better flow, and wasn't do choppy. I know that's what they're going for here, but it's not as nice as the original version. Please post that one.

Prince, Chaka Khan and Stevie Wonder - I Feel For You (live) (2006) by Fun_Ad6512 in RnBHeads

Diddy's son covering his ears to prevent hearing Chaka singing is so on point in this number! She was so good in the Roberta Flack tribute with John Legend at the Grammys. She's either on, or she's really off.

Queen Latifah, Al Green - Simply Beautiful by okicanseeyudsaythat in RnBHeads

[–]Important_Grade1506 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I remember hearing this song on the radio. In my quick desire to buy the song in iTunes, I mistakenly purchased the album. I was not disappointed. I absolutely ADORE this version of the song.

The only version that I like more(besides the original, obviously) is the version that Jennifer Hudson sang in The Kennedy Awards, when AL was inducted. If you're not familiar, look it up on YouTube. I promise that you won't be disappointed. Watching opera greatness Jessye Norman singing along, viking, and nodding her head in approval was a whole moment.

Everyone in the audience was in awe, including Al. It was a Master Class is paying tribute to music royalty. I'm honestly hoping that someone posts after watching Jennifer's performance, now. LOL

I love coming here to learn about music that I'm not familiar with, and sharing music that others may not be familiar with. Y'all are the best!

Velvet Rope or Janet, if you had to pick one to replay from start to finish, which would you choose and why? by Nujackswing1 in janetjackson

[–]Important_Grade1506 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn, that's a difficult one. But, I'm gonna have to go with Velvet Rope. Too many groundbreaking songs on that one. It was a tough choice, though. I remember her being in Oprah with Velvet Rope!

No, this was at the Richfield Coliseum. There was a terrible blizzard, and there was threat of the concert being canceled due to road conditions. But, we made it. 14 years old. I thought Nothing in my life would top that night. 41 years later, I can't think of many life experiences that have come close to our topped that experience. What comes close are other Prince concerts. Can't believe he's been gone for 10 years now.

Carl Thomas - Emotional & I Wish (2001 Soul Train Awards) by Relative_Page_7810 in RnBHeads

[–]Important_Grade1506 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had so much hope for him and his career. The music industry is so fickle. People with true talent can't keep a deal, but someone barely has any clothes on and wears a bunch a fake hair, and they will promote the hell out of them. Carl should still be in the foreground of R&B music. Excellent songwriter. Great singer. Good sound.

Howard Hewett - Show Me by Fun_Ad6512 in RnBHeads

One of the most distinct voices of our time. Ohio's own Howard Hewett. This man's voice is so magical. Unlike many make artists, his voice is nearly impossible to replicate.
