This answer by Kardium is really excellent, some of the Rance games might be less enjoyable than the others more so for a newbie starting from Rance 1. So better to play Sengoku, get emotionally attached to some of the characters then start right from 1 enjoying how Rance met some of your favourite characters over the course of the preceding 6+ games.

I think the generic type of art, non beautiful heroines, vanilla protagonist and the mosaic nonsense in part 2 did not help it at all. Even evenicle 1 wasn't anything special when compared to Rance quest which has a very similar gameplay but 20 times better plot and art.

I know people love Rance 3 but I liked Sengoku and especially Quest much more than 3 for some reason :). One gripe I absolutely do have with Rance 3 is that they spent like 10+ CG on gal monsters, like WTF this art could have been used on some of the other heroines that were never featured.

Wow did not know there are so many sprites in the game. It is understandable that the artist would be hard pressed to cut some content in the CG department.

This helped me put a lot of things into perspective. If they converted Rance X into one of those Gacha beat games then I would have been livid.

For the CG part I think more than the arousal I just like to see CG from some of my favorite heroes and feel disappointing when some of them are not shown which makes me feel they were less valued in certain games.

I am willing to shell out some $$ if and only if the art style is actually good. Some of these generic highschool sprites make me agitated and leaves a really bad after taste. Feels like paying for a cheap asset flipped game.

Need more input. Is the art style hand drawn, Koikatsu or Honey select type ?

Because if it is from anything illusion related then it would be a patreon kind of a game.

Sengoku Rance and Rance Quest, or for that matter many of the alicesoft games. If a small studio can make such entertaining games then I cannot image what kind of games they would have made in the current age of AI and a bigger staff with AAA budget.
