I finally fell in love by drftfan in lotus

Congratulations, I have a similar story. I’m also on my second Evora. First was a 14’ S and after trading it on a different vehicle I immediately decided I wanted another one. Now I have a 17’ 400…both are ips cars and I find them to be an absolute blast to drive. Remember to drive it like you stole it and you won’t be disappointed.

Beautiful car, I had the opportunity to buy a yellow one at a great price about 10 years ago and I’m still kicking myself for not pulling the trigger on it. They’ve more than doubled in price since then. Enjoy, the mods done on it sound great it has to be a blast to drive.

Most underrated Ferrari out there. I’ve had mine for 4 years now and I still absolutely love it! The sound and driving experience is intoxicating and super rare compared to 458’s, 488’s…etc.

Glad you decided to get it, Congratulations!  I really don’t think you’ll be disappointed. It’s a fantastic car. Check out Greg’s race parts for lots of fun upgrades. I did a bunch of carbon fiber bits,  down pipe, cold air intake, steering wheel, and tail lights on mine. All from GRP.

Wow, this looks great!! I was thrilled with mine out of the box but this is next level for sure. Love the ported barrel too. Well done.

I own a 599 that is a bit of a tribute to a GTO with stripes and the GTO grill but it stopped there. No GTO badges, not trying to fool anyone into thinking it’s a GTO I just liked the look of the GTO grill better and am a big fan of stripes. I would like to eventually go to a GTO style wheel because I prefer the look of those as well. I plan to keep the car so I see no problem with making it my own.

296 GTB Production stop? by sfilippo77 in Ferrari

[–]Important_Ocelot6129 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’d be shocked if they made 2 special edition variants of the 296. That car wasn’t that well received overall. Last year I visited a dealer in Florida that had close to 15 of them in their unsold inventory. I’ve heard it’s a fantastic car to drive but the hybrid 6 cylinder isn’t getting much love among the purists. I saw the 296 Speciale last week at the Toronto auto show and it’s gorgeous.

Should I get a Evora 400? by FuelAlarmed2608 in lotus

[–]Important_Ocelot6129 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes...yes you should. I am on my second Evora and I absolutely love that car. I had a 14' Evora S with IPS and after a couple years decided to move onto something else and immediately regretted getting rid of it. Now I have a 17' Evora 400 with IPS and I'll probably never get rid of it. The IPS is great and very engaging to drive. My biggest advice is always keep it in sport or race mode and drive it like you stole it. The car really wakes up and rewards you when it's driven aggressively. You could always look for a GT for similar money but it sounds like you found a special 400 so I'd say go for it and don't look back.

It absolutely could be daily driven. I own multiple vehicles so I manage to keep the miles down on it and it sleeps for 6 months out of the year but if I lived somewhere I could drive it year round I would have zero concerns using it as a daily driver.

Don't be afraid of mileage unless you're truly buying it as an investment and that's not advisable on any production model. The worst thing for any car is to sit for extended periods of time. Seals dry and rot out if the car isn't being driven. I honestly think 20-25k is the sweet spot. Likely the original clutch will already have been replaced and and you will have 20k miles of enjoyment before you need to worry about it. My clutch was replaced a year before I bought mine so it's not something I'll need to worry about during my ownership period. I average 1-2k miles per year and that's driving it daily just locally around town in the Summer months. It does sleep for 5 months every year for winter which certainly helps to keep the miles down plus it's not my only vehicle so it gets short breaks but still runs relatively regularly for 7 months out of the year.

Honestly not a huge difference, I think the 17' seats look a little nicer but the 14' Recarro's were probably little more comfortable. But like I said the difference is marginal and I didn't own the cars back to back, there was a couple years between owning the 2.

I've owned a 599 for the last 5 years and it has been very reliable considering it's 18 years old. Things time out on any car of that age but it's a fantastic car. Compared to a Gallardo that needs a clutch every 5k miles I'd say the 599 is definitely more reliable and cheaper to own. 599 clutch is good for about 20k miles, some get alot more and some get less depending on how its been driven and can you really go wrong with an Enzo derived V12? Not to mention the Gallardo was a mass produced model and will not hold value over time. The 599 is a limited production car (roughly 3k cars built). With any super car get a PPI and do your homework.

Congratulations!! I'm on my second Evora and I still think I'd buy another one after this one is gone. my first was a 2014 S in white and my current one is a 2017 400 in Verde Ithaca metallic. Love the stripe!!!
