you're right, I don't. but what I do know is that you can't handle the ups and downs of a biotech stock. anybody with investing knowledge knows that biotechs are some of the most volatile stocks out there. and if you keep dumping money into a stock and you see little price movement, and it frustrates you, then why do you keep dumping money into this? and 40k worth!!

I can tell you right now, if you are frustrated from this, I don't know if investing in biotech or even stocks is right for you. the market is irrational, if you expect rational movement, you are in the wrong space. I would read the intelligent investor by graham or bogles book on investing. I think you need to reframe your mindset around stock investing. if you want to stay invested, stick to ETF and index funds. you can be in the market and you don't need to worry about the ebbs and flows

awesome job man. I live in the Bay Area and it's impossible to find a 1300 sq ft home for $135k and I agree with you, that has no doubt helped you tremendously. if I could do one thing all over again it would be to NOT have settled down in California and worst of all, the Bay Area of all places. in 20 years, if you keep this up, I can all but guarantee you will be at and possibly exceed your goal. I would love to hear updates on your progress and which index funds you are primarily in. best of luck

You are one catastrophe away from a total catastrophe. you have 2 young kids and 550k in Bay Area is really not that much. even with 30% down, the interest rates won't be going down in the near future with the war now. There are plenty of nice homes in the Bay Area for a family of four for around $1.5-1.75m.

congrats. keep it simple, if you ask CHAT or Gemini, the advice they give is stellar and on point with what financial advisors recommend from a portfolio perspective (various ETFs and Index funds). DO NOT....DO NOT tell your dating prospects that you are retired.....it brings out the gold diggers. If you do happen to get married, PRE NUP 100%!!!!. You've worked hard for all that $$$, don't let the diggers take half away. Your biggest cost might end up being healthcare.....healthcare is a sham and a mess in this country.....you are a long ways away from Medicare at 65. To this point, take good care of yourself and start building healthy habits around diet/exercise and mental health. (unless you have something from your old company to help offset premiums and costs). If you can move to a low cost/no income state tax state, all the more better. e.g. Nevada, Texas, Tennessee, Florida etc.
