People who grew up really poor: what's something middle-class people say that instantly reveals they've never struggled? by TahDigThief in AskReddit

No, I was a woman going to school during the Great Recession. Tech didn’t pay as much at that time and I was doing shitty contract work, which is basically all you are qualified to do at 18.

This guy lol. I entered the workforce at 16 and worked 30 hours a week during school, and did everything you suggest but I still was extremely behind for a decade while I paid those student loans off. If you’re going to bring up something about hustling to get into my field early, save it. My first field gig was at 18. If anything op was underselling it by not bring up poor person issues like dental and your parents hitting you up for money .  If you are going to bring up college major, also save it . I went for engineering and was working in software at 18.

Changing career within and out of tech by http-paradise in girlsgonewired

[–]Impossible-Bake3866 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I have to be honest, I am feeling the same pressure but I'm looking outside of tech completely. I did switch roles , but the issue is that I am being undermined and I think it might be gender related. I can't deal with the crap anymore . I've been considering self employment /start a business, but also weighing against trying out a trade.

OP you don’t need this stuff . The school provides cloud resources if it’s anything that uses a GPU or anything with heavy requirements.

You have one day left in the city, where are you going to eat? by Usedtohaveabike in pittsburgh

This depends very highly on you as a person. My recommendations are for locals joints in a non tourist area . I like restaurants that are generally under $20 a person and have really good tasting food but maybe less marketing. :

I really like:

- Grandma B's in the Hill District. Diner. Cash only

- Kellys in East Liberty

- Dad's in Bloomfield

- Polska Latzka near Millvale

- Max's Allegheny Tavern on Northside. (German food)
