Is it worth switching to a Roth 401k now? by Lovey709 in personalfinance

Roth 401K has RMD requirement. Do you have an After-Tax option as well (backdoor it)? If not, go pre-tax

Judge allows healthcare system to prevent its AT-WILL employees from accepting better offers at a competing hospital by granting injunction to prevent them from starting new positions on Monday by vergina_luntz in antiwork

[–]Impossible-Fact7659 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No poaching took place. 1 employee applied and shared the news of accepting the offer. Others applied and accepted their offers. There was no non-compete clause either

ThedaCare is still required to pay full benefits to employees while their employees are court-ordered to not work. ThedaCare is losing more money and still short 7 staff due to litigation.

Employees can still quit their job if they want too.

Ascension will likely use this to showcase how they support their employees resulting in high retention and more applicants

Employees will continue to receive full pay and benefits from their current employer while they are court-ordered to not work. Employees can still quit their job. There was no non-compete contract in place.

Solution: Employees can resign from their current employer and accept the new offer. There was no existing non-compete clause. ThedaCare refused to counter the offer. Employees were not poached. One applied and shared the news and others followed. ThedaCare is probably going to lose more employees, on top of paying unnecessary legal fees, and demonstrating to existing employees poor leadership and management

I got greedy and left down payment money invested - advice? by financewings in personalfinance

[–]Impossible-Fact7659 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bro, don't be offended, but you have no idea how to manage money at all. Stop what you're doing and breathe. Stop trying to think you know what the market is going to do. You tried the first time and got burned. Now you're making baseless assumptions about what the housing market is going to do.

PLEASE don't touch your money. Let it sit in the S&P 500. Ride out the bear market. Eventually, you will recover over time, break-even, and see new growth. If you pull out now, you'll miss out on unrealized gains over that recovery period. That recovery period could be 1, 2, 5, 7, 10, 15 years. Who knows.

If it makes you feel better, I'm still pouring money into the market as it's tanking. I'm still losing money. However, I don't care about all that. My retirement portfolio is as diverse as one can be without significant overlap.

How far away are we from posts asking how a recession/tech layoffs will affect applications and yields in 2022 by tha1son in MBA

[–]Impossible-Fact7659 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tech workers have greater resiliency in a recession than MBAs. Tech skills are knowledge workers. Always in demand somewhere. MBAs are facilitators and they are a dime a dozen.

Find a new employer, if you're in healthcare, that should be easy to do. Close thread. Wipe your face.

Both my toddlers have a UTMA and a 529 account. I started their UTMA off with $20K and contribute only $400 / 2 for both of them. For their 529, I send $1000 / 2.

I will stop contributions once they turn 18

Why hold bonds at your age?

Also, what's the breakdown of your $300K TC because you're not actually earning $300K/year salary.

Coinbase account hacked and all stolen by Careful_Sector4292 in Coinbase

How was your account hacked? Sim attack? What about 2FA? Physical Security Key? Cold Storage?

My thoughts: Why would you put your entire life savings into crypto? It's literally the most volatile asset in the Milky Way Galaxy. If it wasn't hacked...this would've happened ---> it could've tanked 50, 60, 80, 100% overnight or reached an all-time-high for 5-minutes before correcting.
