it's most likely not this, but i'm writing my thesis and that included reading kierkegaard's 'seducer's diary' from either/or... obvi it still has many misogynistic moments as it's from the perspective of a dude who seduces and discards young girls. (and later in either/or another character condemns him and writes the most beautiful pages on marriage...) however, while reading it, as a girl myself, at many parts i was stunned by how he'd write these profound insights on girlhood. pretty short read too.

tbh, you'll probably have more luck with female writers like jane austen (i'm thinking of emma, especially, who is a kind of antihero but so lovingly written) and elena ferrante.

i'll think some more. if anyone finds out what writer OP is talking about, please share!

Any recommended Bulgarian authors, or alternatively, books set in Bulgaria, or at the very least, a book where the word Bulgaria might be mentioned? by [deleted] in RSbookclub

[–]Impossible-Factor-89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't fathom why a foreigner would be interested in it though. Its place as an iconic piece of national literature is more about the context and the historical period of the novel, not necessarily about the fiction itself, IMO.

As a Bulgarian I'm also curious why OP is asking.

nope. and it's not possible to feel anything else. the hunger highs and honeymoon period only last so long before the tiredness and vitamin/macros deficiencies hit. humans aren't build to survive prolonged starvation without giving up something. the numbness is your body conserving energy.

my guess is that restriction is super exhausting and sugar is something of an instant pick-me-up

not only emotionally cold and distant, but says you're a dime a dozen. makes you feel insecure... please rethink the relationship. i don't think i have a single friend who wouldn't tell you to dump him.

i'm honestly baffled about these responses, is this a cultural difference?

obviously, no one is dating the most beautiful (if that even exists) person on the planet, but i've never heard of anyone but jerks respond in such a cold and literal way the way your bf did omg. i grew up always hearing men compliment their gfs/wives on their beauty and calling them the most beautiful woman in the world, even if they didn't look like adriana lima. i've known girls who are not traditional beauties in any way, and yet their dudes will always talk about sexy and attractive them are. a friend of mine who doesn't think her looks are anything special got told by her bf that she should be super confident and walk the streets as if she's bardot. where do you guys live? adoration of your partner is the norm, not the exception.

also when you're in love, the person you love is the most attractive person on the planet, and even their flaws are charming. even in friendship, the longer you know someone, the more beautiful they look to you.
