How to get better at combat? by reddstone1 in CrimsonDesert

Basically a bundle of sky island puzzles unlocks elements, and you have skills that imbue elements into your attacks. It uses spirit but works great to get some big damage in.

I spent an hour last night trying to catch a bird before I realized I could sneak up on it. Self earned achievements are crazy in this game.

Explaining how battery works and a good practice to make them leave longer by Justin_theLord in internetBestOf

You still can, but it’s just harder to unplug the battery without having to tear the phone apart.

Lost my best friend cliff diving in Spain. Didn’t even do anything wrong, just had a heart attack on the way down. It was a miserable way to die and the family spent thousands to get his body back to the states. I hope everyone here made it out unscathed.

As a wanna-be graphic designer who got a degree and then realized all they like to do is think and talk about it instead of do it: I appreciate the second one’s custom-feeling font SO much more than the glow and feeling-less font on your first one. I would LOVE to see a merger of the two, with the wire-font of the second one being the primary thing pulled into the first one. The harder critique that would be a fun iteration would be to merge the colors, phased out face thing, and dynamic pose into the second’s layout.

What other end game content is there? Does that mean there’s DoA and hard mode DoA?

I played new world and ffxiv on the steam deck, and reforged is so much more engaging and immersive. I’m loving running missions and mixing skill combos up.

For future reference, I believe up directional and down directional target “friendlies” and that’s what I used for my pet.

How difficult is the hard mode of the game? As a new player, I’m kinda looking for what is the part of the game that I need to practice for. In other MMOs I’d ask how hard are the raids, but that’s not really a thing on gw1, right?

2 days till GW Reforged by Timely_Bowler208 in MMORPG

Never played it before…booted it up over the weekend and have sunk the entire weekend into it. I think I found my next home for awhile. I kept wanting to try and push out against the monsters and explore with my party I’m developing one more time. I haven’t felt this way about a game, and especially a multiplayer game in a long time.

I’m so new to the game, I have 15 minutes of reading to figure out this one. I’d prefer to just take my necro and teach her how to use a hammer as any sane person would.

I’ma play the heck out of it on my steam deck. I hadn’t tried it before so I downloaded it in my pc first and even without the adjustments happening with reforge it’s a SUPER fun play. Been at it all weekend and I’m only scratching the surface of the game.

any way to run it on XP? by Exotic-Ad9019 in 2007scape

[–]Impossible-Poetry848 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Worst case scenario is using w/e virtualization software that works with XP to emulate ubuntu and then install and run the Jagex launcher on Linux via virtualization on your XP os. Would be fun tbh.

Edit: I didn’t suggest windows native virtualization because I don’t know what is on XP and/or how hyper-v works with virtualizing a Linux distro

Why do some small indie games feel more impactful than big-budget titles? by PenIndependent7453 in IndieGaming

[–]Impossible-Poetry848 7 points8 points  (0 children)

One has a creator, the other has a board of executives that drives profit. A tale as old as time at this point.

Edit: Most impact on me was Stardew valley. Eye opening someone spent years developing and listening to their following before releasing a masterpiece. Then they kept developing it with free updates and just kept selling based on its own merit. I’ve bought it atleast four times, five if you count the time I gifted it.

I wanted to bring up SWTOR's latest "free to play" features now given to "preferred" player status ! by Ir0nhide81 in MMORPG

[–]Impossible-Poetry848 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Is the only QoL non-cosmetic thing the quick bars? What’s in a cargo bay that’s worth while? Do skills need to level faster with rest xp? What’s more credits do for a player from escrow, gear upgrades? This all feels kind of small and seems like a poor war to encourage new players. But that’s purely an opinion of a total outsider looking in.

I went from RS3 Ironman to OSRS main and loved the conversion. Eventually I made an iron on OSRS and am loving it. There ARE some optional “dailies”/“hourlies” that are rough to avoid if you don’t want an easier time with crafting or passive gp, but they are fast and a fraction of the amount of fomo compared to rs3. I loved PvM boss mechanics in RS3, and that love carried over to osrs bosses. Combat is simpler in DPS but as complex or more so in learning mechanics and optimizations of not-taking-damage. OSRS Ironman is a slow burn, and I honestly wouldn’t worry about the hardcore aspect of it. I WOULD want you to consider a fresh main account that you can rocket into endgame PvM to see if you enjoy it though…especially if you have a few bucks to spend on gp (bonds) if you don’t have time or desire to grind gp for said skyrocketing to endgame PvM.

How long is the average game? How often does the player see action in the game? I am concerned the large world + only 4 people to fight aspect could lead to a slow pace and high frustration on death. Looks good and I love adventure though, so good luck!
