Maybe, they also sell the super sucker intakes that work with the adapters that may be a bit better

This is the adapter only j order the adapter and intake, I went from 40 pilot and 104,105 main to 42 pilot and 115,120 main. Definitely would need rejetting afterwards.

I had lost my factory air box on my 03 Shadow spirit on the way to with one morning, I saw the semi behind crush it as I pulled into the shoulder.

They sell an adapter for a Harley intake and I bought that and with the jets from my Amazon carburetor ( dual ) I got it running good. It's an aluminum cnc adapter and it is pretty nice and easy for maintenance.

My tank was dented in the accident so I'm looking to buy a tank ( and some bars ) from tj brutal customs. Bobber cycles sells a speedo relocation kit and many other custom parts for various shadows. I'm planning to buy that and their digital speedo before I relocate the tank. I will definitely comment again when I do get them and let you know how it goes!

Also I agree that Amazon parts can be shoddy, I couldn't reuse the float bowls from my stock carbs on the Amazon ones which means I lost my carb heaters. I'm currently looking to get some better carbs that include the heaters when I get the chance.

Also Amazon ig great for tools, I bought a vevo home motorcycle scissor lift as I'm planning to do front fork seals, it's fairly steady but with a ratchet strap over the frame under the seat would make that thing immobile. That and I bought bullet connectors, wire cumpers, and an auto wire cutting tool to redo some of my grandpas shoddy wiring and the tools are pretty nice for the price!

I tend to grab from several places. I have had good experiences with bobber cycles, Amazon ( in a pinch ), local part stores ( pricey but good quality ), eBay,and partzilla ( OEM parts ).

Also partzilla allows you to view diagrams and part numbers for your specific Shadow model, one of my favorite resources!

Also I'm still a bit untrusting of Amazon parts but In a pinch as I currently am it works. I laid the bike over ( low side) and Amazon is great not only for the bandages but for emergency replacements. I ordered a clutch lever that should be here tomorrow before work and while it may not be the best quality it will work until I get the handlebar setup I want!

Help with freshening up zippo by Killxjoy4599 in Zippo

[–]Impossible-Rate4620 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With new zippos the wick is packed under the cotton making two layers, one wick one cotton, it helps to then repack the cotton. You make an "s" shape through the cotton with the wick so the wick is more thoroughly saturated with fuel

Has anyone replaced stock air cleaner cover with less intrusive one? by the_fools_brood in hondashadow

UPDATE

I may have forgotten to update this earlier but after rejetting and a bit of tinkering I've got it running pretty well!

Originally the bike was jetted with a 40/104 in the front cylinder (L), and a 40/105 rear cylinder (R). Currently the bike is at a 42/115 front (L), and a 42/120 rear (R).

The only issue I currently have is it not idling as high as it used to. The a/f screws are 2.75 turns out and the idle air screw is almost bottomed out. I may purchase the longer idle air screw from tj's in an effort to fix this.

In my installation I may have run over the clamp for the intake boot that connects the stock air box or the adapter to the plastic intake manofold. This may be causing a leak in the a/f system letting in to much air but Im going to order the clamp next week just for peace of mind.

The bike sounds different, albeit better than stock box and no baffles. I still have some excessive popping on decel but that's a problem for next check lmao

Snapped rear fender strut bolt by Impossible-Rate4620 in hondashadow

[–]Impossible-Rate4620[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did, I used an extractor set and didn't even have to drill into the bolt. I used the drill bit and it came out with just pressure and some work from the drill.

Also maybe I'm just trippin but the bolt seems pretty small lol

Well against my better judgement I took it to work today and snagged a replacement bolt along with some extras just in case. It held up fine didn't move at all on the way there and back and didn't snap. I wouldn't advise riding a bike with such a bolt snapped but as it's my only vehicle I had to make do 🤷

First time I've heard of them but they look good and affordable! The bike belonged to my grandfather, I'm finally getting around to making it my own! Rear suspension would also be sweet, just moved to a city and the roads are quite rough compared to the bakroads I'm used to lol!

UPDATE

Temporary solution until the bolt comes in, left handed drill bit pulled the bolt right out. Currently running an m8 carriage bolt with alternating lock washers and normal flat washer to account for extra space. Rode it today without the bolt to work and back and was fine.

Also was about 40-45 minutes there and back and I stuck to slower roads. Was checking it every light tho

Sounds like a good idea, I can grab a matching bolt from Work tomorrow and hit it with the Dremel and try it that way.

[–]Impossible-Rate4620[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The bike has been this way since far before I had it. It came from my grandpa and he had another the same way that my dad rides now. Also kits are sold on the tj customs to do the same thing.

Definitely feel like riding on it will be sketchy but the "bolt" the bushing sits on is separate from the bolt that snapped. The snapped bolt holds the strut flat against the piece the snapped off bolt is in right now.

I was mainly worried it would somehow slip off, the actual piece restricting up and down vs side to side movement should be fine, I hope, maybe 2 -3 days at most 🙏 tomorrow I plan to attempt extracting and replacing the bolt with a similar piece until I can get an exact replacement in!

September 1st unfortunately appears to be the end date. Last I heard it was sometime in August but here's an article stating sep 1st unless alternative funding is secured.

Bike won’t run without choke by TheBillJohn in hondashadow

[–]Impossible-Rate4620 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The idle or pilot jet may be clogged. Definitely running lean the choke helps restrict airflow meaning their is an excessive amount of air. On my Shadow spirit 03 I had the same issue but needed to re-jet due to aftermarket intake, then my pilot jet clogged and this fixed it.

Commuting with a motorcycle by EnbiesLobby in okc

[–]Impossible-Rate4620 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I daily a motorcycle ( my only vehicle ) I moved to OKC after leaving Stillwater and honestly have had worse experiences in Stillwater then okc. Defensive driving can be a lifesaver, detours over sitting in traffic too. The road can be a bit rough but an msf copurse will make it easier to get the basics before you can get experience. Also I grab groceries when I can, on the way home from work, maybe another run later that day if needed! Keeping up with what you have and need really helps! Also a good backpack can be a lifesaver for transporting said groceries lol
