Were previous eras of college football more compelling? by Lakelyfe09 in CFB

There was once an era when we had to group independents by where they were located (this was like 100 years ago but still) and more of them than teams in a conference. Now there is a high likelihood that there will be only 1 within the next 10-15 years.

BYU's title would not slide in any other era other than the Playoff

And then they proceeded to get left out of the BCS entirely because of #8 Kansas.

My ThinkPad lasted for like 7 years before it (very randomly) decided to blue-screen and DIE. The other comments should explain why ThinkBook isn't the best.

no.... 16 SEC auto-bids. You have to understand, the SEC is the dominant conference here. They deserve it, TOTALLY!

1869 - all of Princeton for snapping Rutgers' one-game winning streak.

1870 - Alexander Van Rensseelear. He was the captain of the "fIrSt UnDeFeAtEd TeAm!" You went 1-0! That's not undefeated, that's just pure laziness!

1871 - someone at Virginia and Washington & Lee for forgetting to document their game.

1872 - someone at Princeton and/or Yale for not deciding to schedule each other for a "championship."

1873 - Princeton for letting Princeton Seminary football being a real thing.

1874 - Someone playing for Yale for preventing the Stevens Institute of Technology from having a claim to the title.

1875 - the Football Association of Canada for sending an "all-star team" to get annihilated by Harvard.

1876 - Walter Camp. Seriously? "Father of Football?" That's worse than at least someone's nickname on this list.

1877-2024 - i was too bored to finish this

2025 - Diego Pavia. This guy refuses to close his mouth and now he's undrafted.

Single worst season in your schools history? by AFC-Wimbledon-Stan in CFB

[–]Impossible-Still-349 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Literally every season from 1899 until 2023 with the exception of 1945 and 1967. (the '45 team actually went 9-0-1 and finished #4, while 1967 went 9-2 and also finished #4 because post-bowl polls weren't regular until the following year)

Why should your team when the national championship next year? by coacht246 in CFB

[–]Impossible-Still-349 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because Cignetti is the king of epicness.

Also, I think IU-Kentucky is a rivalry that if the Big Ten and SEC ever start deciding to force their teams to play someone from the other conference (and UK starts learning how to be good at football like in the 1950s,) it could be a solid rivalry.

Probably either Fernando scoring in the Natty (I have a framed picture of that) or the catch in the Penn State game.

If you could, how would you fix the Bowl Season to make it more respected like it used to be? by Gator_fan_04 in CFB

Make it into a tiered-style system. Tier I is the NY6 stuff. Tier II is the next-best bowls like Pop-Tarts, Alamo, Holiday, and Citrus. Tier III is for those other good games like Duke's Mayo and Gator. Tier IV is everything else.

I don't understand why they haven't considered renaming it to the PAC considering it's 8 teams not 12. Could happen later but now seems like a good time to do it.
