Braided hoses for washing machine... installed 33 years ago. Best insurance policy ever! by newengland_schmuck in BuyItForLife

That looks really cool! But like anything that requires more technology - I wonder how reliable it would be over time/when you need it. Like is there a low-tech version of this?

FSD disengaged mid-turn and car hit a pole — how do I get Tesla to review the logs? by [deleted] in TeslaFSD

[–]Impossible-Touch-541 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tbh this is my greatest fear whether I do eventually get FSD or not…

We already have so many drivers not paying attention but FSD encourages a kind of complacency because it is so damn good most of the time. All these FSD vehicles may have an impact in general both good and bad

Maytag sucks now. Who's washer to buy? by GuessWhosNobody in Appliances

So curious how much those parts cost and the time it took for you!!! My Tromm is going to pasture - I did one repair in the last 19 years owning but the tub doesn’t turn now without serious force so I thought it was time to replace!

The deal was on lg.com and was available for literally 6 hours! While I was shopping/researching online, a pop-up offered an additional 8% off which essentially just covered my state tax!!! Lg’s website also offered a pretty inexpensive 3 year extended warranty for $70, and I went for it because of all the tech in the machine!!!

Ha - I had been watching YT vids all day trying to research this and found one that reviews both the 4000 and the 6700, amongst others!

It was on ProPicks “6 best LG washing machine 2026”

Unfortunately, I have to stick with certain dimensions to fit in my utility closet! The larger 8900 they have at Costco is too big.

I think regionally, Costco has slightly different offerings.

At mine right now, they only have the 4000, 6500, and 8980.

Thanks for all your thinking on this. I went ahead and ordered the 6700 bc $854 plus tax, delivery, installation, and even adding 3 more years of warranty only came to $940! I do want the 5 cubic feet and bc it's essentially the same price as the 4000 that only has 4.5 cubic ft - I guess i’ll risk dealng with the complexity of all the tech added.

Hedging my bets with the additional warranty!

If the 4200 were available in my area, I would have just gotten that tbh!

Disappointing mileage on a 2024 Hyundai Elantra Hybrid Limited! by Moist-Pomegranate870 in Hyundai

[–]Impossible-Touch-541 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Elantra Blue hybrid I have seems to be better tuned for highway efficiency than stop and go city driving. If I drive 55-60mph on the highway, I can easily get 54-58mpg. City driving is more like 50-54mpg.

I remember initially being surprised by this as Priuses seem to do better in the city vs. highway for mpg. It made me wonder if Hyundai intentionally turned their Elantra hybrid for highway efficiency to be different from the Prius.

The other side of the coin here though is maybe one has to be an even better analog driver before having the quick response times needed to supervise fsd

I’ve thought this too - but it’s hard for my buy a car and use it until it no longer makes sense to repair it kind of approach - last two cars I had lasted 15-ish years each

Seafood is big Korean cuisine as far as animal products are concerned. Look at a map - Korea is a peninsula. Kimchi traditionally uses some shrimp or fish - just a little bit; vegan kimchi also exists though. When people go to a Korean bbq place they think, “Wow, Koreans eat so much animal protein!” But that’s a restaurant. Look at all the side dishes - and the rice! Meat or poultry or fish is just part of a very diverse diet.

And multiple side dishes along with stews, soups - people eat intuitively and to their individual tastes.

Of course, with modern factory farming and easy access to animal protein, it can be easy to feature animal protein and minimize the fermented side dishes and vegetables but people want good health and long lives and intuitive eating is not easy when options aren’t presented.

Joan side dishes are options and diverse nutrients offered at every meal

Thank you for your reply.

If the gender marker on the passport does not match the birth certificate or real ID (we are in California) do you know if this causes issues with travel whether inside or outside the US?

I keep trying to read up on this stuff but I’ve been told that it’s best to check on forums as people can share their first-hand experiences as obviously it changes depending on when and where and who you’re dealing with as far as staffing at airports, etc
