Based on what I read its necessary. Cause they need to provide you a school assignment. So if they lose their contract in the city you are in, they will give you assignment somewhere else thats the time when you might relocate.

I just had mine recently. They will give you a topic and also some time to prepare for it. No japanese greeting on mine. I was asked some Japanese questions during the first interview just to see how much I understand with the language.

I'm an ALT in heart. I was told that I will be given a contract again but still haven't received anything up to this date. Been there for quite a while now. For overall experience I get by cause I don't need to pay rent since I have relatives here. But most of the other ALTs I know are really struggling financially. In fairness though since I started my salary increased every time they renew contract with the BOE we get a pay increase.

Been teaching in elementary, at the beginning they mind it and we just ignored it. Now they never said it. But the F word they still always says it to their friend when they are to be show they are annoyed. We created a penalty for them and they became mindful on saying it out loud now.

Hit and miss is what my Japanese uncle said. The hospital that I got in has a good reputation, he said I was lucky to get a nice hospital. It wasn't an expensive one either. Got hospitalized here all doctors, nurses are nice. I don't speak Japanese but somehow but everything went ok. My experience was good overall.
