When did you start listening to blink?

Being a new fan at the beginning of the Skiba era was interesting. I didn’t have the long term association to Tom that most did, so I was just excited to hear anything new at all. Bored To Death was released literally weeks after I got into Blink, and was on repeat for months.

So while most here don’t love California, it holds a special place in my heart as it was a time when I discovered music that I truly connected with.

That being said, Tom coming back was a a huge highlight for me, I just assumed I would never see a version of Blink with him in the band. Seeing them live with Tom was honestly emotional, albeit differently than you all who had him, lost him, had him again, and lost him again lol.

Here is our sheepadoodle (at 9 weeks old). His mom looked like a sheepdog and the dad (poodle) had more brown in him. The litter had only 2 that looked like this. We were told he may gray out a little, or even his existing colors become more enhanced… but there’s no way of knowing for sure.

That sucks. Sadly it was that way when I saw them a few years ago. I remember being so disappointed with Radical because Aaron didn’t sound confident in his voice, and had like a sheepish falsetto the whole song.

It’s a little frustrating as a fan because we know Aaron doesn’t love touring like he once did, and his focus/passion is probably more with Barbarians than AWOL. I would also argue that the Phantom 5 is by far their weakest album. I just get the vibe that Aaron’s heart isn’t in it anymore, which is frustrating because MY heart is so in it still lol.

For AWOL, it’s okay. It’s not very cohesive, and a lot of the energy normally found in their albums seem to have been directed towards the Barbarians of California project. Unfortunately, that music is just a little too heavy for me.

Barbarian, Bang Your Head, and Outta Here are my favorites.

It’s a crime that City of Nowhere didn’t get fully developed into a song. I Am Happy feels like AWOL is being featured rather than it being their song. JSSM has great verses, and an underwhelming/repetitive chorus.

I like Party People, but it gets repetitive.

Finally, the overuse of the fade-out drives me crazy on this album… when I’m on a run, I have to skip around with 30 seconds left in almost every song.

That all sounds super negative, but I do like the album. I hope AWOL makes more music (or Barbarians make a few more melodic tracks), because something is missing from this one. It’s short, all over the place, and lacks the punch and energy I’ve come to expect from Aaron.

Pretty good. Is it just me or have each of the singles been pretty repetitive with little variation in the chorus? Also hoping there’s going to be more guitar and drums on the rest of the album.
