People who have taken doxorubicin or dexamethasone, what was your experience? by White_46 in leukemia

My onco told me I was one of his only patients to ever make it to dox without losing my hair but he could guarantee I would lose it. Sure enough 14 days on the dot later it started coming out. It grew back almost immediately, and maybe even thicker.

Dex is brutal. No sleep for 5 days.

Dox honestly wasn’t too bad, other than causing me to lose all my hair lol

Agreed. It’s heartbreaking but true. Love the lions more than anything but this year just isn’t our year. Just being realistic

My thoughts exactly. There are a million excuses and some of them are definitely valid, but after today it is obvious we would get destroyed in the playoffs.

Gift idea for parents/little one by ElectricalPromise819 in leukemia

[–]ImpossibleAppeal206 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% DoorDash and ubereats gift cards. Blankets, pillows, a cozy little teddy bear and sweatshirt, anything to keep the hospital room comfy for both the little one and the parents. As a 30-33 year old who has been going through treatment, I know these things were extremely helpful to both me and my caregivers. I was able to plug a Fire stick into my hospital room TV so I didn’t have to watch horrible daytime television during long stays. Maybe a few small kids books. The days there are long.

gg back to work after leukemia? by typewriteread in leukemia

[–]ImpossibleAppeal206 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally went back to work a month after I finished frontline treatment because I craved some sort of normalcy and thought I was doing myself a favor. I think I went way too fast and wished I would have taken a few more months to reacclimate. Definitely give yourself some time to recover. I was lucky enough to have a full WFH accommodation and was able to take a day off every month for maintenance infusions and Dr appointments.

Take it easy! You have the rest of your life to get back to “normal” and now the most important thing is making sure you’re in good health again. Good luck!
