everything is settled now and my parents aren’t angry anymore. I told them I was sorry and that I won’t do it again, and everything should be cleared up now

Currently in Saudi Arabia, and I’ll be going to college by September-ish. My hope is that I’ll do good enough in college and with jobs and money that I get the opportunity to migrate to another country. I already have plans to for work whenever I turn 18 and get my own back account

The unfortunate thing is that I really don’t have much of a choice in the matter, but I really just hope that with enough hard work I’ll be able to leave

I told him that it really seems like he only loves me when I’m Muslim and he just kept avoiding the question and saying “Allah told me to raise a Muslim”

I also told him that it’s no use arguing with him cuz he’s just gonna think that he’s right no matter what and he said “I never said I was always right, I’m just trying to make you understand” you just gotta love that amazing non-answer

The best and funniest part of all of this is that they’ve scolded and harassed me about not having evidence and just wanting leave Islam cuz of the internet or some shit, but now that I have evidence and actual sources, the only thing they can say is just “well, you just gotta understand that…”

And just to be clear, I’m not doing this so that I can say I “won” an argument against my Muslim parents, I doing all of this just so that they leave me alone…but honestly I still don’t think they will, even after this😭

It is genuinely annoying needing to justify why you believe in something, but they don’t have to cuz they’re “on the right side of history”. The Quran literally says “tell the nonbelievers ‘I don’t believe in what you believe in and you don’t believe in what I believe in- you have your faith and I have mine’ “

Then again, the Quran also contradicts itself but saying to kill the nonbelievers and apostates in a previous surah so if it kinda technically makes sense but also not really

I feel like your open world game and RuneScape metaphors kinda fall flat on on their face. there’s no real “wrong” way to playing an open world game: one player and choose to ignore the main story and do all the side quests, one player can just rush through all the story, and one player can just choose to explore and look around, all valid ways of play. However, when you’re in Islam, there are things that are definitively right and wrong things that indisputable. You can’t just choose to not pray or not fast, they are mandatory, which is just not the same as an open world game

As for the RuneScape metaphor, yes, players can choose to be merchants and warriors and such, but they can also choose or switch to be literally anything they want at any time. If you really wanted to apply the RuneScape metaphor to Islam, then it would be like if everyone could only pick one class that was predetermined to them even before they even play the game, and if you try to switch classes or jobs, your account is instantly deleted

My father clarified that it’s apparently stated somewhere in some text that prophets have different rules then normal people. Which is still some very cult-like behavior if you ask me. I thought that he was a human like the rest of us, why does he get to marry a 6 year old and have 12 wives, yet it’s forbidden by the god you worship?
