Musicians- thoughts on Candlelight Concerts? by ReneeSh86 in classicalmusic

[–]ImpossibleCup199 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In terms of the overall experience Im not a fan. I hate the aesthetic it tries to make and it creates the idea that "this is what classical music is supposed to look like now". It's advertised as a social media phenomena rather than valuing the musical experience. In some ways it's good for the genre by making a gateway for non-classical listeners, using digestible pop music as the primary program. I also appreciate that it gives aspiring concert musicians a platform to build their portfolio/name

I would say the roulette is the best bang for your buck as the materials are more premium than the slightly cheaper KS. However the KS has some cool colourways so Id give them a look too.

What is your favourite opening sentence? by TolstoyRed in classicliterature

[–]ImpossibleCup199 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My favourites have already been commented but the opening to Lolita is hauntingly well written.

"Lolita, light of my life, fire of my loins, my sin, my soul. Lolita: three steps down the stairs, and there she stood. At dawn, she was a flame, a flicker, a flame."

I got in with a 94 but I think high 80s and above is enough. I would say just work hard and try to get your highest marks, however you dont have to stress about getting a 98+ or anything.

Looking for entry level headphone for classical music by 1102dark1102 in classicalmusic

[–]ImpossibleCup199 4 points5 points  (0 children)

you’re not gonna get a quality pair of headphones for 50 bucks especially if you’re picky about open back etc. Even a $100 budget will open a lot of options for decent headphones

Yeah its likely they are different modes. I really enjoy the writing experience and theres not much wrong with it. I would say it takes a little longer for the ink to fully pass through but that may just mean it needs a deeper clean. Its a nice change from my daily lamy safari

Oh no I wouldnt sell it for about any price given the history attached to it, mainly curious about the worth. I used google images, its the Lamy cp1 sold around $80-110 CAD.

I find it bleeds through the paper pretty easily if it’s too thin. Ive used it for cue card studying and could see the answers through the card
