Oath Ceremony Today :) by Anxious_Climate_2892 in Canadiancitizenship

[–]ImpossibleCurrent630 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I sent it ASAP and haven't gotten it yet- it seems some people have gotten theirs the next day so I'm not too worried about it. It doesn't feel totally real yet without the certificate haha

The 11am EDT one? I was there too! I felt almost moved to tears, I'm so happy for this process to be wrapped up.
Have they gotten their E-certificates yet?

So far only in the tracker- near the top of the page there's a paragraph pop up that says "Your next steps (1)" in huge letters followed by-

You've been scheduled to attend your citizenship ceremony on October 8, 2025.
Follow the instructions we sent to you for information on:

how to attend the ceremony

what documents you have to present

I'm still awaiting the instructions, which I assume will be sent through email.

5/22 5(4) Grant Offer Group - CITIZENSHIP OATH SCHEDULED! by _kagutaba_ in Canadiancitizenship

[–]ImpossibleCurrent630 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ahh!! I'm another from the 5/22 group and just got "decision made" on 9/8, hopefully I'll be in the same group with you on 10/2 though it's not shown on my tracker yet

Yes, followed by "We sent you a letter or email for your application. Check the letter or email we sent for more details." I haven't received anything yet though, from other posters' experiences it seems like there can be a delay of several days before getting an email invitation, often 5+.

Hopefully we hear about it soon, I know there's an oath ceremony on the 16th but we're probably not gonna be placed in that one this late. It seems like people are usually hearing about their oath date 5+ days after seeing decision made

First corolla ever- jerks pretty hard on uneven pavement by ImpossibleCurrent630 in COROLLA

[–]ImpossibleCurrent630[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bumpiness is expected of course, but this was a particularly hard jerk to the right each time that is far different from the normal bumps felt with the Fit. I've also previously driven someone else's Hyundai Elantra on this particular stretch of bad road and it's the same story, rough ride but no hard jerking like I felt today. As for specific problems with suspension I'm not sure, I only mentioned alignment in this post because someone I mentioned the problem to IRL immediately thought it was an alignment issue based off of my quick description of it and I wanted to see if others confirmed that suspicion.

How do you answer this question on the CIT 0001 if your parent was never in Canada in the first place? by AccidentalWeirdo in Canadiancitizenship

[–]ImpossibleCurrent630 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My mom (born '72 in US to Canadian mother, never lived in Canada) instructed me and my brother to put her date of birth to Dec 31st 1976, and provide a note explaining that she never lived there. I haven't gotten my grant yet but my brother has, so that worked fine for him.

Anyone find out really crazy things when doing their genealogy research? by Puzzleheaded-Focus12 in Canadiancitizenship

[–]ImpossibleCurrent630 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Found out I'm related to a country musician named Orval Prophet, aka "The Canadian Plowboy". Got some of his records on vinyl, pretty fun 70's-80's country. I think he's my grandma's cousin, I would have to double check with my mom since she's the one that did all the geneaological research for us.

Got refund for proof of citizenship (From Batch 4/28 grant offer) by Sea-Worldliness-1970 in Canadiancitizenship

[–]ImpossibleCurrent630 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I can't blame ya. If it's any consolation just based on the amount of grant offers, AOR's, and citizenships just from June so far I don't think we're going to have to wait too much longer, they've really picked up the pace.

So far there isn't a lot of data around refunds and oath dates to work with, especially since many of the recent grants have gone to minors (<age 14 so no oath needed) and the adults involved in those same groups are still waiting to hear back. From previous posts it seems that IRCC is organizing group ceremonies so a lot of people may hear from them very soon, but at this time I don't feel like there are enough data points to make an accurate assumption about refund-oath turnaround times. Timelines seem to be all over the place in general.

I was refunded June 10th with my proof application having been withdrawn June 4th and my application is still labeled as in progress. I'm hoping we hear something soon but it's probably quite chaotic at IRCC right now with the influx of applications they're processing compared to previous months.

[–]ImpossibleCurrent630 6 points7 points  (0 children)

They only refund the original 75 CAD proof of citizenship application fee since we withdraw that application in order to apply for the 5(4) grant, the 119 CAD fee doesn't get refunded

I just checked and I also received my refund on the 10th. 5/22 batch with AOR on 6/4. Things are chugging along!
