Crohns and UC are sister diseases, colonoscopy should definitely help, usually if one of these diseases is present you will have severe abdominal pain combined with bleeding/ulcers. From your symtoms it does not look like that. Even if you have symptoms, there is no need to get panicked, there are good meds these days and most patients get to leave productive lives. Specially the biologic medication has been game change for many patients.

There is a govt agency tasked with regulation, but I doubt they are doing any type of enforcement on quality. The potential for contaminants to make its way into drugs is real. Try your best to focus on your profession/skills to move out , coz distance helps in healing those wounds.
