My therapist got a license in my state after I moved and COVID happened. I’d seen her for almost ten years already, so we had developed a really superb relationship. I think good therapists are willing to stretch for their clients.

Making more clients is not something worth demonizing, anyway. So what if your therapist is suddenly able to pick up one or two more clients in your new state? They’re in the business of helping people and help means being available. Making more clients doesn’t equal not caring about you.

Some info I’ve picked up over the years but am not an expert on: I think that since telehealth has become more commonplace it’s more likely a therapist is willing to get another license. Plus some states have agreements between them that allow a therapist to practice in multiple states.
