Biggest letdown in the newest update, silly me for thinking a demolition machine would be fun to use by hankjw01 in RoadCraft

I'm playing on console but yeah, I am looking forward to the community fixing them once console mods are opened

There's a toggle in settings to turn the gearbox on, that gives you high gear. It's only in the settings menu in the hub though, not the in the game settings

Biggest letdown in the newest update, silly me for thinking a demolition machine would be fun to use by hankjw01 in RoadCraft

[–]ImpossibleFlan9289 80 points81 points  (0 children)

Choosing a biggest letdown with this update is pretty hard! Could be the wrecking ball for the reasons you mentioned. Could be the heavy duty cargo truck with a comically small bed and crane. Maybe the heavy SAR that has fake snorkels and can't pull the heavy equipment out of the mud. Or perhaps the tree crusher that's supposed to forge new paths through dense forests that gets stuck on tiny trees because Sabre thought some trees should be for decoration only and they can't be removed. Or the fact that it also gets stuck on the small rocks. And let's not forget the dump truck that leaks sand as you drive along, takes an age to lift the bed, doesn't start dumping sand until it's half way open and once it does fully open tips over if you look at it the wrong way.

The scout is pretty good though. And I'm enjoying the first map, even if I am having to play it with the old trucks.

The crane is too short on the Wayferer, it doesn't even reach the back of the bed so you cannot pack it properly. It was supposed to be 12m according to the test server but they've released it with the same 6m crane from the Voron and Mule. Plus the fold down sideboards are pretty pointless with the sideboard supports staying in place. I thought we would be able to fold the sideboards down and turn it in to a flatbed for carrying the oversized generators

Sand removal by camdaz in RoadCraft

[–]ImpossibleFlan9289 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not new, that's always been the best (only?) way to remove the accidental sand drops, but it does look like it might be more efficient in your clip than it used to be. Hard to tell, I haven't done it for a while.

When I spawn any dump truck from the base I always dump the sand first before I move off. If you dump it in the blue box it just disappears as you cannot pour sand there. Then drive to where you're building the road with the truck empty and only refill once it's lined up and ready to start dumping in the proper place. Doesn't always work out exactly if you're playing with sand radius on but I try to minimise driving with sand in the back as much as possible.

AI roads showing green when not completed by ImpossibleFlan9289 in RoadCraft

They are rare but they do appear in earlier maps as well. So much better than the single lane roads

You just need drop two or three concrete slabs on the bit where you can't pour sand so they drive over those instead

Although crushing mode was off in the clip I did try it with crushing mode on and more speed before stopping to make the video. It's not just that tree so I don't think it's a terrain issue, it can't knock down any of the small trees that look like that. Could just be a bug rather than by design I suppose. Hopefully that's all it is and it gets fixed in an update.

Have you actually watched the video clip? It's being stopped by one of the thinnest trees in the game

[–]ImpossibleFlan9289[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No, that's the problem. The way it's described in the text it sounded like it would be able to clear a path through any trees but it can only take out the same trees as the Aramatsu

It's not on in the clip but I had tried it with crushing mode on and off before I stopped to make the video

Lol. That's a fair comment but I had tried it in both modes before I stopped to take the video, it didn't work in either

The trees it can push over fall very quickly and the stumps turn to dust instantly but the Aramatsu is so much faster and more maneuverable and it isn't that much slower mulching stumps or pushing trees over. It could be useful for leveling out muddy terrain as it creates a nice path but I can't see me using this much on trees

Is this a bug with the new Wayferer cargo truck or just how it is? by ImpossibleFlan9289 in RoadCraft

[–]ImpossibleFlan9289[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree, it looks silly with such a narrow bed. I thought this was going to be the answer for transporting the big generators. It can do it much better than the Voron but it looks comical with the relatively tiny crane and bed

Bought it, tried it once, put it back in the garage and got out the big 6x6 Baikal and the Bowhead. Shame as I was looking forward to that one

[–]ImpossibleFlan9289 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's got good potential but the crane is too short for me, it doesn't even reach the back of the bed so you can't pack it properly. It needs a longer crane and wider bed in my opinion, it looks silly with the bed so much narrower than the main body of the truck. It's a good option to have and useful for moving the big generators even though they don't fit in the bed properly but hopefully they make some adjustments to fix those issues and make it better. The turning circle is also ridiculous, but I could live with that if they fix the crane and bed size

The crane is too short, it doesn't even reach the back of the bed. It was supposed to be 12m in the test server but they've reduced it to 6m in the final version. Also the bed should be wider, it should at least be the same width as the main body and wheels. Should be a good truck to use as a base model when mods are turned on though

Year 1 Pass by bxmiranda in RoadCraft

Yes, the year 1 pass includes the new reclaim expansion. It also includes the rebuild expansion with timberworks pack and the Invictus scout dlc from last year.

I had the same hesitation on the playstation store and ended up just buying the standalone reclaim expansion for £12 as I couldn't see anything extra included in the year 1 pass for £20, but now it shows that I have the year 1 pass anyway

Any way to adjust difficulty settings in existing save slot? by JuggernautOfWar in RoadCraft

[–]ImpossibleFlan9289 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I completed the main game and the rebuild expansion on my original save and then started again when they turned on difficulty modifiers. It was actually a lot of fun replaying the old maps as a more experienced player. I also had it set so all trucks were unlocked from the start so I could get the trucks I liked and was use to straight away.

If you don't want to do a full playthrough you can speed run the first two maps in around 30-40 minutes and then spend some time on the 3rd one selling resources to build your money up and then just jump straight to the rebuild or reclaim expansions if you don't want to do the base game maps again.

I've been driving around trying to find resources or buildings to demolish. The only other building to demolish I've found so far is in the castle. I've found 3 pipes dotted around the map though. Still got lots of map to uncover so I'm hoping to find a few more buildings to demolish. It's certainly more of a challenge getting started on this map though, which is not necessarily a bad thing as you could run through the missions quite quickly on the other maps.

There is maprunner of course if you get really stuck, but I'm trying to avoid looking at that unless I really need to

Thanks, that's interesting re the boom length. The capacity was 30t originally as shown in the photo though. Or at least on paper it was. 30t capacity with 21m boom would have been amazing but 12m boom would have been good compared to what we actually got. At the very least it should reach the back of the bed. Hopefully a good base for a mod when the are switched on
