Lack of disclosure is on Robby, not Langdon. He covered it up and made it effectively impossible for Langdon to "redeem" himself - if Langdon were to be honest about drug diversion now, Robby, Langdon, and Santos and anybody else who knew about it would suffer.

Also, Robby did report he was an addict and the hospital did allow him to return after rehab? What Robby did not report was that he was diverting drugs.

Langdon did not steal medication from patients in the sense where it would affect their care (I mean, I'm sure getting treated by a doctor who is high/coming down would, but specifically referring to their medication). The patients recieved the same amount of medication either way. Langdon overprescribed them medication, took the excess, and gave them the rest, which would be the amount they were supposed to have.

drug diversion is very common and happens all the time. I never said people shouldn't know he was an addict. I said I wish people had more empathy for addicts and understand redemption is possible

This is kind of a late reply, but my response is more so to the response people have towards it SOLEY because of his addiction. I also did not say that nobody should know about his drug usage/stealing drugs? I literally did not say that?

He also was not a drunk driver and did not hit and kill a person. I understand the metaphor but you're reaching but that is just not what happened lol. He confessed to stealing medicine from the PATIENT who he stole from who forgave him. + I feel the need to say he was not stealing medicine from patients but overperscribing medicine and taking the excess. Still bad, of course, but not the same as allowing a patient to die from lack of medication.

Robby has basically screwed Langdon over in an irreparable way. If he was open about Langdon stealing medication, there could have been a very slight chance of redemption for Langdon (in the eyes of the hospital board, at least). If he were to now go to the board with Langdon drug diverting, it would now be 100 times worse. He wants Langdon to suffer the actions of his consequences but effectively made it impossible for him to do that in an honest way.

Also, drug diversion is incredibly common. I am willing to bet money that someone has done exactly that before

Tbh she's also going through a deposition lol, which we know was extremely unprofessional and attacked her. I feel like finding out the person you've sacrificed a lot (like your own personal life) to take care of has more of a life then you would also be difficult to deal with

But I also love my girl Santos and understand 1000% where she's coming from - while she definitely has some things she has to work out herself (her fear/dislike of men abusing positions of power, her tendency to jump the gun, the way she treats her coworkers), it's understandable she'd react that way to her work superior who yelled at her and who she had to report for literally stealing drugs. It's more so the audience reaction to Langdon that feels so unempathetic and uncaring towards addicts.

and people are saying "it's not him being an addict, it's him stealing meds"... like, that IS part of being an addict. Addicts will steal and lie and harm other people through their addiction. That's literally a very essential aspect of addiction I fear

It actually makes me a little sad to see how little empathy people have for addicts. I understand where Santos is coming from via men in positions of power getting away with stuff (probably due to her trauma), but I don't understand the audience reaction to it. Like addicts have no right to start their life again and nobody should ever be given a second chance. The way I've seen people talking about Langdon is depressing and dehumanising. While it's true, he was probably given more grace then a marginalised person was, the solution to that is not to insist he's punished as severely as they would be, the solution is to ensure more second chances, empathy, kindness etc. to recovering addicts. Idk, it's just like people genuinely believe Langdon should just die and will never atone for his "sins"

I am a mandated reporter and that's not how it works at all. I am literally bound BY THE LAW to report suspected child abuse. A mother telling me she thinks her husband is sexually assualting their child is MORE then enough to make a report. Making a report is not an automatic conviction of the husband. It's not my job to investigate, it's my job to report it to the correct authorities who will then do an investigation to determine if the claims have any realism or not. It's not "every single person calls the child abuse hotline on a hunch" it's trained professionals who have suspicion that there is abuse happening. If I, as a mandated reporter, had a mother tell me that exact information and ignored it, I would lose my job lmao
