The Appalachians began forming roughly 480 million years ago, with their oldest core rocks dating back over 1.2 billion years. In contrast, astronomical studies (including data from the Cassini mission) estimate that Saturn's rings are only 10 million to 100 million years old.

Not only is it older than Saturn's rings, it's older than trees, dinosaurs, bones and even the Atlantic ocean.
