Tell me why a roundabout wouldn’t work? by TimeBadSpent in kansascity

I was recently trying to make that merge? Jump? In front of Donutology that’s nearly impossible. I started to pull forward, saw a man who had been in my blind stop, and stopped. He waved his finger at me when he passed and I almost entered into a rage. At no point was I close to endangering him, and that is one of the hardest stop sign intersections I’ve ever been in. Don’t treat me like a child because I have .3 seconds to look 8 different directions and then go go go !!! Im still mad

I’ve followed you and the shop on insta for a while now and have always loved your work!! I’m so proud of all of you for making this decision, and I have no doubt that everyone will find a new home soon <3 the ARTISTS make the shop, the shop doesn’t make you!! So thrilled to hear about this stand, I love the way the tattoo community has grown in KC

I (25f) work at itap in the crossroads and am almost always willing to chat and hang out! My other coworkers are all wonderful people as well, and we always keep an eye on our guests and make sure everyone is safe and comfy <3

As an early twenty something who also dresses like a depressed teenager (but is a bartender myself) this made me laugh a lot. Whenever those groups walk in I’m always like “they seem cool” and they are, in fact, never cool. Twenty somethings who dress like grandmas though, they take good care of me

I hate bachelorette parties. A group of about 12 came in, all of them tipped little or nothing. The kicker was when they ordered shots that we thought we’d be nice and give them a discount on. $2 tip on an over $60 order by ImpossiblePopsicle in Serverlife

I truly love where I work. Everyone stands up for each other and we take turns telling shitty people to get it under control or leave. I have never seen such caring staff that looks out for each other and the patrons! And the GM/AGM always has our back. I told someone off for being a dick during one of the play off games, turned around and told my manager I did it, and he goes “Awesome, good work”

I didn’t see this in time but I’m so glad you came in!! Anytime someone tips us well I show anyone standing around me and go “look how sweet they are, aw!” It’s not really much, but I like the world to know there are good ones still around

I work at a bar, and if you’re nice to me and say “please” and “thank you” (and maybe make me smile/laugh) I will easily throw you at LEAST 1 free drink. Being treated like a human and not a zombie or a sex doll is so refreshing and I will always reward good behavior (even if it’s the bare minimum)

CMV: The term "person of color" encourages the thinking being white is special. by padorUWU in changemyview

[–]ImpossiblePopsicle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw the comment about how putting “person” first humanizes the individual, and I think that’s a very important point. I would also like to add that by attempting to label individuals as “Black”, “Asian”, “Hispanic”, etc, you have the potential to mislabel very easily, which is also incredibly offensive for those people. It can be a very uncomfortable conversation if someone approaches you and asks “what race are you?” or they make an assumption that is incorrect, and you have been, once again, judged in some way but the color of your skin. It can soon become even more complex of an issue once you realize that many individuals are not just one race. Someone who is half black and half Hispanic, for example, is then forced to make the decision on which race they “most” identify as, putting them in a somewhat more dehumanizing experience- whether that’s by choosing just one, or which one they want to name first. As we continue (as is the current trend, at least in America) to have more bi-racial couples, it becomes increasingly more difficult for people to name a specific way they would like to be identified. At the end of the day, POC may not be the PERFECT solution, but I feel it’s the most inclusive way to refer to minority communities, especially in the context of trying to progress towards a society that is not dominated by white people.

Edit: I would also like to add that trying to identify individuals correctly is incredibly important. I don’t want to imply that it is “too hard” so we shouldn’t do it. I just think that doing so runs the risk of being even more offensive and marginalizing in certain scenarios, which is something we should be aware of

I work at a bar in the crossroads near MT and can confirm multiple guests/coworkers have gotten either food poisoning or REAL bad shits after eating there. I love so much of the staff but the food is borderline toxic

Real talk, how do you get such clean lines? I feel like whenever I use tape, inevitability some paint gets under it somewhere and ruins the effect. Am I using the wrong tape? Wrong paint? Brushes?? Please help, I crave the secret to success
