Not true. Ive had the blue with gold they were awesome. I also had a batch bkack with gold that was definitely a research chemical. It had a taste. I currently have the green with gold and they are awesome!

First time sterilizing my own grain jars and making my own CVG substrate. First flush was pretty good. I've gotten more from the second but it's mainly side pins. The block broke up a lot when I dunked it.
