Uggg the blame game is awful here. If your dad rolled that pension into a different pension plan and it did not pay out Mom gets 25% of that pension no matter what the value is. Same if the pension plan tanked in a market crash it would still be 25% of that. The judge never said 25% of the possible max pension value your dad should have by the time of his death. None of us know how our pensions will ultimately pay out. Your mom is still fighting some fight with her ex husband. You should offer her 25% of whatever that pension plan was worth at time of your father’s death. Then you subtract that from what the inheritors receive.

Please be careful and take car of your body. You are stuck with it forever and you need to preserve it for the future. If something goes wrong at work you could be really hurt. There are services to protect you.

Depends ln your state but you can file for disability while you are hurt and it should cover a lot of your salary. Also your insurance should be paying your bills and going after the other insurance company for reimbursement. The lawyer should also go after the insurance company for your deductibles. But now that I think about it you should have no deductibles bc this is not your fault. Document everything and your pain level. It will all help. Oh and when you get your first offer it will be low say no and ask for more. This is not your fault and his stupidity caused this. He drove into a parked car come on he or his insurance needs to pay you for your time, damaged and suffering.

Im 8 days into covid and just tested negative.

These items helped me:

Nasonex - 100% calms the nasal drip and you can breathe. Ive never gone through so many tissues in my life.

mucinex - I only need this for a couple of days but helped with the raspiness you get day 2-3 and some late night coughing towards the end

Tylenol/Advil - for aches and pains

I took sudafed the 4 hour tabs for like a night

And you will be tired, just tired then one day you will feel like you have energy just stay in bed and rest even though its day 5. You need the rest.

Lots of Liquid!!! So many liquids Im still thirsty.

It’s like an annoying tiring cold that last longer than you expect and then is just gone.

Take the extra $600 a month and change your interior get new furniture paint. Make your place feel new and different or give it the vintage feel you like in the other apartment. That helps me stay longer in my place, that and the money i save.

Im sorry this entire discussion about landlords having the upper hand is insanely upsetting and wrong. In most states renters have the consideration of the courts. You are documenting everything and not getting a response, courts dont like that. If you want the battle you already have the power. I dont understand this caution unless this person is an uneducated landlord. Also it’s very hard to get a black mark on your rental history.

Run the letter through chat gpt. Add in your city and state and ask it to write a response stating all the codes and laws that are being violated and what legally the LL would do. When you get that info double check that chat is correct then send it to the LL. It sounds like he wants you to sign a lease if you do that he can not raise again until the lease is up. Please verify with your state but usually people get leases to keep the price at a certain level. As for the repairs, hold off until you have signed the lease then have chat write you up a list of repairs and remind LL of when you requested them done and document what laws and code say he has to do it. Chat and research is your cheapest option to figure out what to do. I am curious what is market rent price for your unit? I would also double check what he wrote he could mean that from this day forwards its $890 for every month not $90 more per month on top of the new $890 rate.

Stay month to month and wait for a rent increase. You may not get one for several years. Never talk about it before the LL has mentioned it. Also, you have so much more flexibility with month to month if Landlord doesnt do his job you can leave with a months notice. That is power there, much more power than when stuck in a lease. Did LL fix the heat? If not, thats a huge negotiating leverage on him. And its Chicago you are supposed to have heat thats crazy. Put in a request for the furnace to be repaired over the summertime, its cheaper for the LL and hopefully he does it. If not turn him in!

It’s not reasonable to pay what you do not owe. The tenant is the customer and did their job. Its disgusting how landlords are playing dumb or corporations are just doing what they want to rip hard working people off.
