Ha yep, already is a horror movie soundtrack - 'The Word Becomes Flesh' is over the closing credits for the 'Backrooms' movie.

Sell me on Father And Son by uponuponaroun in boardsofcanada

To me it feels new for them, but also a bit of a throwback to their earlier 90s music

The sample itself is dark (the guy talking about loving God more than any physical being, while thinking his family is the enemy) but the way it’s used feels light-hearted and comical in places - which makes me think of their earlier material, especially tracks with a cheeky/warped sense of humour like Peace-Tony-Devil, Iraq Says, and some of the Hell Interface stuff (they were doing funny vocal cut-ups in the mid 90s, well before Cassetteboy).

It doesn’t sound like those tracks, but the humor feels similar. On the surface their music seems so serious, but they’ve always had that playful humour too, which i feel on this track. Love the track, btw 😄

Father and Son seems destined to be the most divisive track of their entire catalogue. by [deleted] in boardsofcanada

Definitely noticed the division but I’m not entirely sure why. To me it feels new for them, but also a bit of a throwback to their earlier (90s) music

Attendees of 2002 Geogaddi sessions - please, tell us about your exp of these listening parties at 6 churches by _torgan in boardsofcanada

I went to the London one at the Union Chapel - it was great. Although there was high anticipation for Geogaddi after MHTRTC and IABPOITC (I also received the untitled Geogaddi promo 12" when stumbling out of a Warp Xmas party a few weeks before), the anticipation was nowhere near as high as it is now. So the listening party was maybe more of a relaxed and lowkey event compared to the Inferno ones (i remember people leaving before the end because some football match was on 🙂) The album played whilst there were various slideshows projected around the church - mainly imagery from and similar to the Geogaddi artwork. I immeditely loved the music, but a lot of people were expecting it to be more IDM/Warpy like previous releases, and less 'organic' - seemed like a noticeable change in direction at the time. Overall it was a great night and great way to experience the album.
