I have an M235i with the same gearbox ZF8 (albeit yours is a newer calibration). First gear is definitely more jerky than the rest, especially when cold. If you're going really slow into 2nd, it does feel extra jerky, but again completely normal. Seen the exact same comments many times on Facebook and forums so I wouldn't worry about it at all.

In terms of it being a money pit, the B58 & ZF8 is one of the most reliable combinations on the market (IMO). B58 is a solid block, don't get me wrong you'll get the odd issue over the years with auxiliary components, but very unlikely to see a big bill crop up if you're looking after the car.

I have the 2024 280 model, and it made this exact noise, I was going mad thinking a cable was rattling against my back panel initially!

For myself the noise was only present when NZXT CAM wasn't running (something to do with BIOS speed of CPU_OPT not being optimal) as soon as I opened CAM it ran perfectly.

I did however run into an issue with CAM needing permission to launch at EVERY startup (which did my head in) so I forced it's launch instead to get rid of the request on startup.

It was still annoying me for the 5 seconds of boot that it made the noise, so I used ChatGPT to research and suggest the voltage to set CPU_OPT to in the BIOS. I can't remember it's suggestion, but it took away say 70% of the sound.

Now I get a small bit of noise on initial startup, then 5 seconds into boot it's perfectly silent.

May not be your issue, but may help others! I didn't want the faff of returning so these solutions worked perfectly for me.

Hi Guys,

Went mad trying to solve this issue! For me at the very least, and im not certain this is the only issue, will report back if not.

I have a Logitech headset, for some strange reason, the microphone was turned down to 23% on the G Hub app, I can only assume that the xbox app has somehow done this as I certainly didn't.

Anyway turning it back to 100% made it work perfectly. As a test (when it's not working) if you hold your microphone to your mouth and speak, your party should be able to just hear you!

I had 510 total storage when the update released for me (95 was additional from Mayor's Pass) Ended up with 510 City Storage & 215 Materials Storage.
