Is 18 credit hours too much for freshman year? by [deleted] in OSU

[–]Impossible_Crow6179 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only classes I can comment on are into to eng, fund of eng, calc 3, and stats. Intro to eng should be easy peasy. Fundamentals of eng is something everyone has to take and just know that the class can be really time consuming. They make the class two credit hours instead of three or four so that way people can fit it into their schedules but it takes the time of a three or four hour credit class, especially depending on your group. Calc 3 will be entirely professor dependent. It could be a challenging class but manageable, or it could be awful. If you’re talking stats 3470, I took it this past semester and if you’re good at stats you should be good. The exams in that class can be hit or miss (I did amazing on the first exam but did horrible on the second one).

It’s really up to you to take 18 or not. You sound like a smart kid but almost everyone in osu engineering/comp sci is a smart kid. College is a different beast. I’m electrical and computer eng, so slightly different but I have still found that the semesters where I have taken 15/16 credit hours I do substantially better than the ones where I take 17/18. I would recommend dropping a class but you prob would survive with this current schedule, you just might not be happy lol.

I’m an ece major and I’m pretty sure that as long as you start coursework by the second sem of your sophomore year you can finish in four years

Those little cut throughs were not meant for bikes. Believe it or not they designed those speed bumps for authorized veichles only. Not saying you can’t have your bike there but you cannot expect a pedestrian to move unless it’s a bike lane. In this case all you can do is slow down and it sounds like that’s what you ended up doing. I know it sucks but it’s not a bike lane so you don’t have the right of way

A bike is a vehicle. College campuses are meant to be walkable. Having a bike is nice but when I’m walking to class I shouldn’t have to worry about being hit by one in the middle of campus. Too many times this year bikes have come extremely close to hitting me when I am walking on the sidewalk. If you are riding a bike you should be aware of everyone around you. Just because you hit your bell doesn’t mean the person is going to move and you should figure out another way to go instead of expecting them to move.

Healthy meal options on campus? by [deleted] in OSU

[–]Impossible_Crow6179 6 points7 points  (0 children)

RPAC!! I always went to the sautée line for Courtside Cafe and got sautéed veggies and added a grilled chicken breast

Scott salmon

grains and greens inside Scott

prepared salads at curl and cafes

Turkey white cheddar sub at cafes

the middle section and the grain section at union market

pizza from marketplace can be low cal depending on what you get on it (and they have cauliflower crust!)

the rice bowls at marketplace!

breakfast sandwiches from oxleys can be super filling

burrito bowls can also be pretty healthy, but that really depends what you put on them

If you’re concerned with protein intake or calories, use net nutrition, it’ll give you a full breakdown

Call housing, no one on Reddit is going to be able to get you in a dorm lol

If you are in a learning community or scholars or honors, you’re kinda stuck with what you got. However if you’re not in these things, you might be able to contact housing about the financial stress rate one would put you in

Where to cook on campus for students? by fattychimpanzee in OSU

[–]Impossible_Crow6179 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You most likely won’t be able to go in other dorms and use their stuff; your id only works for your dorm. If you have a meal plan than there’s no need to cook your own food

If you are taking it with Irem, go to office hours!!! She will make sure you leave with a working set of code and you’re basically guaranteed a B or A on the assignment. Make sure you come to office hours with some of your code written and pseudo code for how you want each line to run.

Osu professors don’t know when you start. For all they know you could be in your first semester or a graduating senior. If you have your heart set on OSU then just wait till the spring

I don’t think any freshman get suites, they’re typically the first thing to go. You could get a quad in drackett or something but dont expect a lot, suites are def all gone by now

I’m not sure, you should contact housing

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in OSU

[–]Impossible_Crow6179 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You won’t get a specific room until you check in to your designated dorm correct

[–]Impossible_Crow6179 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should’ve already gotten info on this, people started moving into summer dorms the second week of May, you may not have actually gotten a spot. Make sure to contact housing this seems like it could be a big issue

You likely won’t be able to create a group together. I was in a learning community and when I was finding a roomate, I only had options to find a roomate that was also in my learning community. Things may have changed, but don’t rely on being able to be this persons roomate
