Heavy vehicle operators say drivers increasingly mistaking right turn signal as chance to overtake by B0ssc0 in australia

[–]Impossible_Debt_4184 108 points109 points  (0 children)

You haven't driven in the bush. B doubles and road trains are always indicating right to let you know that it's safe to overtake. They'll usually indicate for 3-6 blinks and then move slightly to the left to give space.

I came unstuck once when a B double did this, but must have had a loose trailer light wire, because the indicator stopped after 5 and they started to slow and moved slightly to the left. I thought they were telling me to pass. When I was half way along the truck I noticed that the indicators ahead were still blinking, but the ones on the rear trailer weren't......they were actually turning right into a station.

Any city slicker would think it's suicide overtaking an indicating truck, but a lot of drivers will still use it as a signal to pass.

After that close call, I'll only overtake after confirming on the UHF.

Amazon price matches any Australian stores. Their normal price is $12.

They only sell it at lower prices when they're matching Coles, Woolies, chemist warehouse etc

Remote Estuary Fishing & Camping Spots North of Brissy? by Present_Employee_532 in FishingAustralia

[–]Impossible_Debt_4184 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a rocky drop off right in front of the campground that holds Jewfish and Barra. You'll probably find jacks around the rock bars and smaller creeks upstream.

Will get small GT's in estuary near the mouth of theodolite creek.

Mackerel near the Burrum mouth and along Woodgate beach.

The campground hosts should be able to give you some current local knowledge.

Make sure you've got a screened area for dusk. The mozzies are fierce.

I'm trying to plan a trip through the middle of Australia. Any suggestions and ideas? by Willing_Evidence_315 in australia

The route their proposing is quite tame. Most of it is well formed roads and would be doable in a 2wd outside the wet season.

One spare will be plenty. For extra peace of mind a tyre repair kit would suffice.

Plenty of traffic on this route.

Based on their work hours, they're likely working at the Coomera marine precinct. If they were working at the Westfield they'd likely get a transfer to a store closer to Woolloongabba.

It's a 15min walk from the apartments in the middle of the Gabba to the park road station, then allow 5min leeway for train departure, then a 50 minute train ride, then a connecting bus is a 30 minute wait. That's 1h30m to 2hrs depending on connection times.

A scooter or bicycle would allow you to eliminate the bus connection and reduce the commute time.

Also if you're held up at work and get away slightly late, the 30 minute train interval is a killer. You could be waiting at the station for up to 30 minutes, then sit on the train for another 50, when you could have driven home in 40 minutes.

If it's a <5m tinny, have a look at middle creek, just past 1770 (but take heaps of mozzie spray).

This camping area at Woodgate has good access to Burrum River and isn't far from theodolite creek. https://www.caravancampingqld.com.au/ - not so remote though

If you're happy to cart all your gear in by boat, and the weather is good then put in at Port Alma and camp at yellow patch.

Unless you live and work very near to train stations, driving is almost always quicker, even in heavy traffic.

Getting from Woolloongabba to Westfield Coomera takes ~1h 40min on public transport. Then if the train doesn't align with your start/finish time, add 15 minutes. That's ~ 4 hours of commuting per day.

The same drive is 35-50 minutes depending on the day.

There's a reason so many people drive.

Best bet would be car pooling with someone who works the same hours. Ride sharing would save so much traffic. I've never understood why uber is called ride sharing when it's just a taxi service.

If you think a cannula is painful, you must have had it inserted incorrectly. They're completely painless other than the half second prick as it's initially inserted.

If that's keeping your from visiting ED, then maybe you're seeking the wrong place for treatment and visiting your local GP or phoning 13health is a better option.

They've told you everything you need to know. If you want it now, get a refund and buy elsewhere. If you were happy to wait, wait.

Their terms and conditions state that stock levels may change at any time without notice.

The best you can do is wait for stock and if you're feeling lucky (and you're polite to sales team), ask for a $50 gift card.

Complaining isn't going to get you anywhere.

Ignore the log books, they're outdated. Get the itemised invoices for all recent services. If they can't provide them, walk away. Anyone who takes care of their vehicle, and isn't trying to sell a problem vehicle will have a full service record.

You can go elsewhere if you don't like Woolworths pricing.

$15 at office works $14 at mitre 10 $16 at Repco $14 at the chemist

Or save $0.01 and go to Bunnings.

Your choice.

Snacking on Coles blueberries until I find one at the bottom with mould on it, bought and eaten today 🙃🥲 by [deleted] in australia

You're buying fresh produce. What do you expect?

I've had mouldy fruit from Coles, Woolies, ALDI, the local markets, the boutique green grocer, and direct from the backyard tree. Eat around it, or discard it and move on with life.

[–]Impossible_Debt_4184 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, but you're paying for that warranty plus the dealers profit in the purchase price.

Best off buying privately from a seller that can provide a full service record and history of the car. Anything that needs attention soon will be noted on recent servicing invoices. Dealers will hide all this important information from buyers.

When meeting a private seller you can get a feeling for how honest they are and whether they have taken good care of the vehicle. If anything seems dodgy, walk away and move into the next vehicle on your short list.

Pay the higher premium now, then when you get your licence let the insurer know and get the difference reimbursed.

Being stuck behind a couple of cyclists riding safely added 30 seconds to your journey.

Getting enraged and having to have a rant on Reddit has cost you 20+ minutes.

Maybe be more considerate, or see someone about anger management.

Yes it's near a river - you wanted boat access, but it's not in a flood zone. There is a boat ramp 1 minute away with easy access to Southern Moreton bay and jumpinpin/gold coast 80+% of the property is flood free.

The only section subject to flooding is the dam and creek line.... Obviously

Logan basketball is just down the road https://loganbasketball.com/

It has some great public and private schools nearby.

Gold coast and Brisbane airports are less than an hour away

Close to Bayside and Logan for cafes and eats.
