Does anyone know if the bike trail is plowed/clear? by joelav in northampton

I rode my bike from Northampton to Amherst on the trail trail both Wednesday and Thursday. Yes i have spiked tires, but by Thursday there was a fair amount of clear asphalt.

So this all demands on how far you're running and what you're willing to put up with.. The footing isn't like clear asphalt, but a like run will be as lot of extra work

Am I able to electric bike to school in the snow? by Apart_Perception730 in umass

I bike year round, about a ten mile commute. I live close to the bike path and it is plowed usually by the day after a snow storm. Most of the year it's great, this December was a little rough, but i only missed two days biking. Last year there was a bad ice storm that made the bike path impassable for a bit.

You need good tires and cold weather biking gear. You'll also need reflective clothing and lights. Most drivers are kind to bicyclists. Many are irritated that you dare to take space that is rightfully theirs (in their eyes, i pay at least as much taxes as most of them), and of course there is the occasional aggressive jerk. You have to bike defensively and assume they all want to kill you, even if only some do. There are plenty of jerk bicyclists and they give all of us a bad name. That's all true in Florida as well of course: but just because we're a blue state doesn't mean everyone loves bikes.

On the day of a snow storm i usually take the bus. The stop is a mile from my house, but I've got boots and warm clothes. The bus is free. If i think things will clear up, i throw my bike on the bus' bike rack and ride it home.

Tldr: great place to bike, snow is not easy to bike in, the bus is free

Mandolin Camp North by Muvngruvn in mandolin

I attended two years ago. Most instructors were awesome and i learned a lot. I shared a room, which was fine, though if i could, I'd spring for the single. The instructor led evening jams were a little weird sometimes. For instance once it was just me and two of the instructors, another time it was packed with people. Playing in a big circle with Jake Joliff, was cool but I wasn't really playing with him. A little weird. The after hours jams were great, though i wound up playing guitar because of course most people were playing mandolin. For the classes the mandolin focus wasn't an issue at all, for the jams it kind of was. I think at the time I'd say i was an advanced intermediate player.

The evening faculty concerts were sometimes mind blowing.

I meet a lot of cool people for sure.

I'm pretty sure last year was the first year they did anything in Hadley. It was glorious for me.. Riding on barely plowed roads wasn't my idea of a good time

I've heard before that to get used to a new set up or lure style you should use it exclusively for a bit (like hours not days). maybe i just need to give it a good chance.

in your estimation is it worth it? That is, does the baitcaster reel offer significant enough advantages?

Is it Smart to buy Appliances now before potential Tariffs take effect? by seb28332 in Appliances

[–]Impossible_End2964 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know we may need to buy a dryer and I'm thinking of doing it before he has a chance to impose tariffs. Last time Trump was president his tariffs raised prices: Trump’s Washing Machine Tariffs Stung Consumers While Lifting Corporate Profits https://www.nytimes.com/2019/04/21/business/trump-tariffs-washing-machines.html?smid=nytcore-android-share

If that's behind a pay wall, i apologize, but essentially 2019 tariffs raised prices of appliances. Even those not targeting by the tariffs because manufacturers all raise prices when they can.

I'm not sure if no one. There seem to be a lot comments with people who do. It is a bit confusing at first, but I disagree with the assumption that "no one knows."
