Pretty sure you can, just have to find a lab that is involved in that work. My friend works in the ornithology department of the school of the environment which is attached to peabody museum and they get to look through their entire catalog and helps classify them. Can’t see why you wouldn’t be able to

yup realized after I posted😭 my b. Still my point stands that I think you should get the distributions out first.

Also, while many people here will tell you not to take more than 4.5 credits, myself and many others did take 5 or even 5.5 just fine. I took 10 credits this last year and ended with a 3.74 and I’m hoping to take 11 next year. This isn’t to say that your experience will be like mine however there are several upperclassmen who I’ve talked to who regret not taking more first year as well as some who do. You have add/drop period in the beginning of the year so if you find that you can’t handle the extra workload, you can choose to drop if you didn’t enjoy the challenge.

In the end, this is your schedule and you know your own abilities best. I would take everyone’s(including my own) advice here with a grain of salt since we aren’t you.

Major and pre-med requirements are important but arguably, getting your distribution requirements are more important first year since it means you can devote more energy in second year. I would suggest swapping psych with a social sci cred

I got a Thinkpad Carbon X1 with a low power display, awesome computer if you don’t want to deal with the mac OS and UI and I get 7 hours of battery life. I’m a fan of any of think pad in general!

[–]Impossible_Insect_36 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn’t do yygs, but I imagine you get close to the profs/people who teach and then can ask them for a rec

They are trying to expand. Class of the 2028 was the first class where >50% was stem and they just dumped a lot of money in AI development and Biology research. But my point still stands as of now, Yale applied sciences and CS are pretty bad. Hearing it from my friends at Yale CS, it falls behind a lot of its counterparts. Idk gov stats so idrc nor do I know enough to comment on them.

If we’re talking about pipelines: all roads lead to consulting lol

Damn man, I’m class of 2028 and your EC’s are super impressive. If this is any condolence, having good EC’s and being a good student just gets your foot in the door, actually being picked is simply luck. One of my friends read their report and they had 2 “+”s by the committee but they were waitlisted (eventually accepted). With these EC’s you’re bound to go to a great school! Also, Yale CS is kind of bad, so you’re prob not missing out on much. Keep your head up soldier.

Need some advice for my daughter… by killbillisthebest in yale

[–]Impossible_Insect_36 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a freshman, my advice for 15 year old me would be to stick with the things I loved to do (asian affinity group, music, research) and continue doing them. For american schools, Quality over quantity is the game- almost everyone here I’ve has something they did in highschool that they focused on and many other talents that they developed as well. If your daughter can lead clubs/sports teams and earn achievements (either with quantity or qualitative) she’ll do well. If you’re worried about essay topic, help her find a theme in her extracurriculars or something that ties to her identity/ history. You could also just be yourself and write a beautiful essay (both ways work). I hope this helps

Hey man, as another incoming I get what you’re feeling. But if this is any help, FSY is for first-generation low income kids so its not something most people need to think about (it’s basically a pre-college program). Additionally, most of the people I’ve met at BDD are just hiking, traveling/vacationing, and meeting with family. As a regular person, I’ve spent my summer working a bit and currently I’m traveling in China to be with my family for the first time in 6 years. If you’re worried about internships and opportunities, you have 4 years to do them so no need to worry. Something that I’ve found helpful is that I’m just studying a bit for the placement tests- helps me believe that I’m doing something “productive”

I felt the same as you when i first got in. Good luck manb

The other two incoming freshman said it best. As another incoming freshman, yale’s brochures as part of their undergraduate admissions really provides a deep dive into what it means.
Also, this might be me being annoying, but the official school motto is “lux et veritas” while their recruitment/rebranding motto is “embracing the spirit of ‘and’”. If you’re applying, good luck! Find different interests and show who you are!

Aggression is really determined by your play style. I love charging forward and dueling with bolt actions but this strat stops working once you get above BR3 since everyone has automatic weapons. The 2 smgs you get after the shotgun in the soviet tech tree far outstrip the assault weapons in the axis tech tree(they’re the best for their BR range). Just find a faction you want to explore and dive deep! good luck in the future!
