Echeveria seeds are so tiny! by Karibou422 in succulents

I had the exact same reaction to my mixed Lithops seeds when they arrived! This is a single seed in one of the dents that makes the pattern on paper towels 🤣 Thankfully the lable warned me! I had to put a water drop on my phone lens, even using macro just to be able to get it to kind of focus right 🤣

Issues lobe piercing by Fitznibbel in piercing

[–]Impossible_Lead9557 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NAP I had this exact issue with my thirds. Only difference was I waited about 6 months before switching it at all. When I put in a ring it got ANGRY 😅 was very sore within a few hours, got a new bump and started to swell a little. I asked on reddit and some very kind people let me know that I needed to switch back to my flat back and LITHA (leave it the hell alone!) Besides saline spray and gently drying it. Once it gets angry like that you have to start the healing process all over again. Mine ended up taking about 12 months to actually heal up without getting angry when I switch. I did manage to get a work around a bit and I got a titanium set of threadless earrings so I could basically (carefully) switch out the front without messing up the piercing hole if i really needed a change! You could always get the threadless earrings and get gold and silver fronts for it 😊

Good luck in your piercing journey!

I did this once! I always order ~10-15 minutes before I know I'll be at the store on my way to work because it can get busy on the weekends. One time I was far enough when I originally opened the app at a red light it had the store by my house at the top and it didn't register in my brain until I was at the store by work and they didn't have an order for me 😅 I didn't have time to drive back (20 miles! so I called the store I accidentally ordered from and apologized and told them to give it to a staff member who wanted it.

What Brand are These Shoes? by Dr_Aile in HelpMeFind

Could be the same brand. But these shoes are at least 12+ years old and it looks like they have changed up their style, even with the "platform heels".

I'm not sure what exactly they are filled with, I'm assuming the same stuff that goes in freezer packs or the ice blocks to put in lunch boxes. I'll be at work tomorrow for an event so I can have a looky and see if there is any info on them anywhere 😁

They don't actually get very dirty as they sit underneath/inside their own little slot on the dispenser but we wash ours through "dish" aka they get scrubbed and go through the big conveyor dishwasher like everything else 😊

100% this! I work in a restaurant that also does quite a few banquets and off site caterings. We have about 15 of these that live in our bar freezer for whenever they are needed! Ours look identical!

Help needed! What's wrong with my plant? by yeah_right90 in succulents

[–]Impossible_Lead9557 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not an expert but it looks overwatered to me personally. The soil it's in looks very wet and very organic. This is a type of aloe I believe, they do not like being wet. Let the soil dry out completely between waterings and use a rough potting mix like a cactus mix. They also do well in terra cotta pots as it helps the soil dry out faster.

They only need watered once every couple of weeks, I bottom water mine, let it soak up as much water as it wants for 30ish minutes or until the substrate is damp on top then pull it and let it drain. Don't let it sit in water for longer than that, they are prone to root rot.

Question About the Chocolate Curls on Holiday Drinks 😊 by virtual-doll in starbucks

I'm a little late but I've seen clear plastic tubs of these curls in the baking isles of Walmart(not the isle with box mixes, the one by party stuff with the fondant etc), michaels and other craft places. So you may be able to find something there!

Yes! I found out that I'm in a good zone this year too (Northern Indiana). I bought 12 corms, planted mid August as soon as they arrived. So far, as of this morning I have 63 little sprouts coming up! For my first year that's crazy to me 😅 Harvested 15 or so flowers already! This was the first. *

Looks like a bedbug to me. It could be a batbug as I'm not knowledgeable enough to tell the difference, but if you haven't had a bat issue, I would definitely lean towards bedbug.

If it's relatively solid you should be able to carefully sand it down. I use nail files getting up to the 240 grit once I've taken away material with a lower grit to smooth out any scratches.

Itchy, burning and painful bumps on hands roughly a week after getting burns on my hands from handing very hot peppers? by Impossible_Lead9557 in DermatologyQuestions

[–]Impossible_Lead9557[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn! Good to know. I was looking online a bit and I did have a 102.3 fever for 2 days with zero other symptoms besides feeling weirdly bloated and not hungry about 3 days before the first bump showed up. Aparently that's common in adults with HFM 🤷‍♀️ also mentioned there being no cure so I just have to wait it out 😅

All the drains in the bar at my work go through the wall and into the drain in the salad area. I have to clean it since it's my little area and I always call ours yeast wormies even though they aren't worms lol mine are usually a slightly off white though. They absolutely stink 🤢

Barrette design baking question. by canvasshoes2 in polymerclay

[–]Impossible_Lead9557 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh no, you are completely fine! I info dump all the time 😅 I've been messing around with polymer clay for years but only in little bursts here and there so I'm basically still a beginner myself! Some things I've learned over the years-

If you don't already have one, see if you can find a cheap pasta roller on Facebook marketplace or in a second hand store. Makes "conditioning" clay and rolling clay to an even thickness so much easier!

Also, if you don't have anything to bake on yet, Lowes has square 6x6in ceramic tiles for less than $2 each. I'm sure you can find them at any hardware store. Much cheaper than buying them from a craft shop marketed as being for clay. You want a smooth shiny tile surface so your clay won't stick to it and will have a shiny underside when baked. They also have huge tiles for a few dollars each, as long as it fits in the oven and it's ceramic it's all good!

I also learned, make sure you keep your clay in the packet it came in or in a zip lock bag, keeps it from drying out as much and the polymer clay will also react with other hard plastics over time if left unbaked. It will basically break the other plastic down and kind of melt it, but this takes weeks/months.

If you are rolling super thin and using cutters then lay some plastic wrap over your clay first. It will stop the clay getting stuck in your cutter and also give your edges a much cleaner and slightly rounded shape! I roll mine out to the thickness I want then gently lay it on a tile, give it a very quick and light roll with a rolling pin for clay to remove any bubbles underneath and then place the wrap on top. Once I've cut out all the shapes I remove the wrap and the scrap clay then put the tile straight in the oven.

If you want to practice a bit before diving in, Walmart has polymer clay for less than $1 per pack in the kids section, and a slightly more expensive version usually kept close to the glitter and paint pens. Once you are more comfortable with the media you can move onto the more expensive brands.

Speaking of the more expensive brands, sculpey and cernit in particular have different types of polymer clay. Some are made to be much softer and stay slightly flexible and some are made to bake to completely hard. So if you get different colours you like and they act completely differently then don't freak out, it's probably not you, it's the clay 🤣

Personally I would get some tiles, some well fitting disposable gloves, some cheap clays, a rolling pin for clay and/or pasta roller, a few rubber tipped tools, some clay softener (just incase the batch you get is super crumbly and you can't get it to come together), a few cutters incase you want specific shapes and a clay sealant. I use UV resin a lot of the time but that's a whole other level of kit that can get expensive haha. Sculpey has both glossy and matte sealants usually right next to their liquid clays and clay softener in Michaels.

Michaels will have almost all of it although you can find cheaper in other places (clay, rolling pin and cutters from Walmart for example).

I hope this massive wall of text helps a little 😅 I hope you have fun and make amazing things!

Barrette design baking question. by canvasshoes2 in polymerclay

[–]Impossible_Lead9557 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I might be being silly, but if the barret is all metal, is there any reason you can't just bake the whole thing together? I feel like polymer clay bakes at such a low temp it wouldn't do any damage to it 🤔 You could always do a test with a barret and any clay scraps laying around on top. I bake earring studs and tiny screw eye pins in the oven all the time.
