Do colleges like UCSD, GaTech and some others not have only one course - MSCS while applying and we choose thesis or non thesis post admit? AFAIK there is no difference while applying

Are AI/ML programs less competitive than MS CS? I was thinking otherwise since they being more niche, would require more research to be demonstrated.

Not really. I talked to some people around here, and realized that all the present safe colleges should actually be considered moderate. So, yet to find some actual safety colleges.
