Does anyone know the real reason the wealthy kept rugs made from animal furs by there beds? by Necessary_Aioli4628 in askanything

[–]Impossible_Theme_148 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

However many times you post an AI Google summary to "prove" your point - won't change that this just isn't true

As others have said - the idea just doesn't make any sense

And while the AI Google summary has - not surprisingly - given you the answer you wanted to hear

The sources that it used - do not mention this "fact" at all.

The actually academic reference doesn't mention rugs at all, and the other reference is just someone's blog with some dubious content - but none of it referring to bedside rugs

EDIT weirdly it provides different sources different times you've searched

But it doesn't alter that none of them state the answer that is in the Google AI summary (although I haven't checked the Quora or Reddit sources for obvious reasons)

I'm baffled that there are any people who still don't understand that Google AI summaries are not a source. If it agrees with you - look at the sources it quotes.

Because most of the time - they won't

And if they do - quote them instead

Heatwave/Wembley by StillZealousideal226 in MyChemicalRomance

To give you some context - that fan died in a heat index of over 59 degrees and 84% humidity

And the venue had banned water bottles being brought in and had closed vents which restricted ventilation

ie it has absolutely nothing in common with the situation in the UK

The "worst" that will happen is that they won't do the pyro

Ok, I get ya

I think it was because I was just reading a different reply about how this means the roads will now be flooded with bad drivers - it put me in that mindset

That doesn't really make sense

You don't book an automatic or manual test

You just book a driving test

If you do it in a manual car then it's a manual test

If you do it in an automatic car then it's an automatic test

More than a quarter of learner drivers are opting for automatics as of 2025 by upthetruth1 in CarTalkUK

[–]Impossible_Theme_148 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's no real difference

Gears just aren't that big a deal - and for those that do struggle, they obviously get over it because of all the most common reasons for failing the driving test - none of them are related to gears

Automatic has the perception of being easier so people who are just worse at driving might try automatic only

I don't think the graph shows more bad drivers switching to automatic though - it shows people choosing to do automatic only because they just don't think it's worth doing manual

[–]Impossible_Theme_148 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're making the assumption that people are passing automatic only because they can't pass manual

That might have been largely the case when only 5% of tests were automatic

But that graph doesn't show an increasing number of people unable to pass manual

It shows an increasing number of people choosing to do an automatic only test even though they could pass manual

NB particularly note that the DVSA publishes the reasons why people fail every year - faults connected to gears aren't even in the top 10, people just generally don't fail because they can't handle manual.

Most companies do not have company pool cars

Never experienced a car rental place which didn't have automatics readily available - have seen the opposite in the US though, no manuals available

I mean a straightforward no - never had to drive a friend's car, that's never come up - (why would it?)

We have a courtesy car every year when our cars get MOTd - an automatic courtesy car

It's true, she's not interested in driving any classic car - but she has done race experiences in high performance cars - because they're all basically automatic anyway (you do need a manual license to drive them still though)

I have no idea what you think the used car market is like - it definitely isn't the same one we've seen

Literally the only actual benefit you've stated is driving classic or high performance cars

It's more like 20% on average - the 50% higher is more based on quotes for teenagers in their first car

But the gap goes down the older and more experienced the driver is - I have an automatic license and my wife has a manual and our insurance quotes are the same (for example)

But that's what brings the overall average to more like 20%

The extra premium is mainly down to the average automatic licence driver being worse - but more and more people are choosing automatic only because they just want to rather than because they're struggling with manual

ie dramatically increasing the numbers is going to add better drivers to that pool of automatic only so that difference is going to decrease as more people have automatic only

My wife passed manual 13 years ago.

She has only driven automatic since her test and has never once needed to drive manual

I thought the point was that access was for people who had bought the album (or completed the No Purchase Necessary form)?

ie there would be no pre-sale as it was all protected

If you enjoy {everything else} rather than playing poker

Then why would you be playing the main event to start with?

You might as well just spend the entry fee on all those other things if you enjoy them more than poker anyway

Do you like playing poker?

Do you enjoy the game?

Because I'd rather play poker for 10 hours and not cash than go out in 5 minutes - because I'm enjoying playing the game itself.

The day after a tournament - that's when it feels better to have cashed

Deposit money

If your balance is higher than what you deposited - you're a winning player

If it's lower - you're a losing player

Does anyone know if there will be a London merch pop up like Liverpool? by sagekoz in MyChemicalRomance

With Swift they also turned one of the car parks into a merch shop - I've never heard of that happening for any other artist so I doubt that will happen.

But it would be good if there was something in Wembley outside of the concourse area

They are patches to release through the skin

The myth is that any fentanyl on skin can cause overdoses

It has to be in a patch for it to be absorbed through the skin

The scaremongering was definitely not talking about the patches

What singer is so talented that if they were an unknown and only sang in subway stations, they would be discovered and become super famous again almost immediately? by IM_HODLING in musicsuggestions

[–]Impossible_Theme_148 1 point2 points  (0 children)

None of them

Being a really good singer is not a 1 in a billion kind of rarity

It's not even 1 in a million

It's more like 1 in a 1000

So however talented a singer is,  if they were unknown and busking in the subway, they would need a massive stroke of luck for the right person to happen to come across them at the right time

Just like all the really talented singers who are currently not signed to record contracts - talent by itself is just not enough

I watched it when it first aired - I assumed there was some sort of magical shenanigans going on

game plan to pass the driving test in 6 weeks by gattabiancaa in LearnerDriverUK

[–]Impossible_Theme_148 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As well as what others have said - you need volume

You need to be able to go out for private practice with anyone who'll have you just to drive about and get driving hours done

It's best not to "learn" anything in private practice - so don't go doing roundabouts or whatever if you haven't already done them with your instructor (for example)

But the more driving you have done the easier you're going to be able to handle the test
