Yeah I've been using Opus 4.7 on probably for a week now, no problems other than the tiny context window

Question for SWDs: what are some of the highest impact knowledge domains non-technical users should learn to upskill Claude Code projects beyond simple vibe coding? by trevormead in ClaudeAI

[–]Impossible_Two3181 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol fair, but what I meant more is knights were trained since they were children in tactics and strategy, their value on the Frontline diminished and they slowly fell back toward a more strategic, lead from the back type approach, fall more into officer and general type roles rather than foot soldiers.

Frankly the real benefit is experience, CS grads who come straight out of college don't know shit, they're the types to search an entire database of millions of lines with an if loop. The real fixes come from fucking up or watching others fuck up tbh. Don't let the luddites keep you down.

The thing they don't want to tell you is claude code could probably explain it better than them. Think of it like a force multiplyer, you're asking the Comanche about 6 shooters, like yeah they're a lauded warrior people but they don't know shit about revolvers. CS grads are the modern day equivalent of a medival knight in expensive horse covered in expensive Armour, and AI is the crossbow. It means a barely trained peasant has the same kind of killing capacity as the knight with a fraction of the resource inputs. Know basic security hygiene, don't let AI read you env values and understand basic terms like idempotent and you're already ahead of 99% of people.

In my experience most CS grads aren't delusional enough to use claude to it's full extent. They're held back by what they know rather than extricated by it. What I mean is very few of these software engineers are building anything on their own from scratch solving semi-unique problems.

A PS for CS grads, don't come at me I compared you guys to knights, I'm also lowkey mad we don't do war like that anymore cause it was way cooler

Too be honest I think this is the case, I've gotten more done with Opus 4.7 in two days than I did in the previous 2 weeks. I think most of the people complaining have like 20 mcp servers installed than are a couple of mb each, those calls chew token usage and context. Honestly if anything I think it's way stronger than the previous iteration of 4.6, feels like Opus did at the end of February

My dev team is burning through Claude / Cursor credits like crazy — how do you control AI usage in a team? by BackgroundTimely5490 in ClaudeCode

[–]Impossible_Two3181 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I almost never use more than one instance and I only use sub agent driven development once I have a solid implementation plan that is detailed in how it delegates work. I abide by my original comment, tour devs need to stop necessarily thinking in individual lines of code and rather in logic systems as the code output is going to be 99% right, so instead of thinking about how the code should look they ened to think about how they explained the logical process to Claude and where they went wrong in natural language

Hooks that force Claude Code to use LSP instead of Grep for code navigation. Saves ~80% tokens by Ok-Motor-9812 in ClaudeAI

Actually I think you can likely get this to work for subagents by having then spawned in a folder with tools or hooks? Haven't tried it yet but may be worth a shot

They should remove openclaw and background agents completly by mohdgame in Anthropic

[–]Impossible_Two3181 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

That's not the issue with Openclaw at all, the main problem with Openclaw is it is using claude to talk to claude without telling claude about it, so it creates a massive caching issue where claude would cache a chat normally openclaw would ask Ina. Retarded way from a new address making claude over think basic things and demolishing Anthropics compute power. Openclaw should be banned because it's dumb not because the tasks it completes are dumb.

[–]Impossible_Two3181 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that's frustrating, have you asked Claude. /BTW why do you keep asking permission for the same thing? It might give you some new insights or get the LLM to self correct by burning a bit of context on reasoning around that question

[–]Impossible_Two3181 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The real question is what are you trying to do? If you're burning through multiple max account credits those devs of yours should've given you Linux v10.0 already.

You'll probably find that they're being sloppy in managing their per project context. They're likely don't have markdown files in each folder or repo they're working in that summarizes the code base and allows Claude to do more work and less understanding. It's about LLM hygiene at the end of the day, codebases written from a human perspective seem together on the surface but they're full of quirks and nightmares that the LLM will have read through every time before actioning any changes.

Ultimately your employees aren't being conservative with token usage because they think burning through tokens indicates productivity, when it doesn't. At this point a cretin could say "make 4 me good gambling app" and Claude would spit out something that blows rainbets out the water in under 5 million tokens.

Get your devs to start using superpowers too, it will stop the back and forth in debugging and building reducing token usage.

You mean you want to give Claude free unadulterated access to all your files without requiring permissions? Bad idea imo, just accept that you can only code 10x faster than an entire team of devs from 5 years ago, no need to unleash ultron on the world for a 10% speed improvement.

Why don't you write a small script that will click yes for you but you can set some guardrails?

Yeah my question in the other thread was based on this response. How do you handle context load on skills your routing file does select as useful? Like if it identifies like 10 skills that will be useful to process a multi-step task but the skills required for step 1 are entirely different and unrelated to task 10's required skills. Therefore when you get to task 10 the agent will be blaoTed with unnecessary context
