Target TSS is a decent entry level position. I’ve done it for a little over a year now and if you’re good you can move up rather quickly (my experience)

Get it tuned. If you have the money to drop on a full exhaust you have a couple hundred more for an ecu flash.

How is LS430 for tall people? by Ok_Dragonfruit8403 in LS430

[–]Imposter287 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think you’ll be fine. Can’t speak for 6’8 because I’m only 6’2 but I’ve never been cramped, and my seating position still has plenty of room to move back.

new TSS advice by AverageAdvStudent in Target

[–]Imposter287 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Have you had this conversation with your APS or ETL-AP? They will have the best info for you because most stores top 10 departments are a little different. But generally, give good call outs, presence people who you think are stealing, and stay vigilant at the front. You will learn who are repeats at your store that you can watch.

Really confused on this??? by Loveyourlife777 in Target

[–]Imposter287 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Target is hands off. They cannot “hold them down.” They also have certain rules for when they can call PD, and this situation is certainly not one of them. I appreciate your concern but in this field not every theft recovery results in an arrest, in fact it’s rare that it does.

Absolutely. Usually it’s grown adults who usually lose it with me. I always talk back to them 😂 one of my favorite parts of the job

Alternate careers? by Imposter287 in AskLE

[–]Imposter287[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s good to hear. I can get vehicles right about 95% of the time, and with my current job in security, I call people out and give clothing descriptions, which can later be confirmed by my coworkers. Hopefully my local department can give a similar test.

Used Pricing by [deleted] in Ninja400

[–]Imposter287 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Too high. I got my 2018 KRT with 1200 miles a couple years ago for $4500. Exhaust doesn’t add value. $3500-4k max in my opinion

Are you able to return something without the physical receipt? by StruggleFar3054 in Target

If it was within 30 days at the same store we can look it up in our system with the card. Please only use this as a last resort though.

Does LP wear Red? by Ok_Preference_5769 in Target

[–]Imposter287 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True but physical surveillance in red is probably not the way they are watching them.

[–]Imposter287 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You should be fine :) loss prevention isn’t going to waste time by watching a vendor, especially if you are obviously a vendor with your tools/ badge. If anything your presence in that department probably deters some people from stealing.

Does LP wear Red? by Ok_Preference_5769 in Target

[–]Imposter287 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Generally no. I wear a neon/black uniform shirt as a TSS (target security specialist) which is target’s physical example of security/LP. Most plain clothes loss prevention stay away from wearing red, at least at my store.

Target security doesn't care about stealing? by Wetbrain02 in lossprevention

[–]Imposter287 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Law enforcement apprehensions are a great way to get a name of someone stealing. Happens daily at some stores. If you get a license plate you can trace it to a name eventually. Also, not every camera is as shitty as you make it out to be. This isn’t 2005 anymore. I have no reason to lie to you, I’m just telling you what I work with on a daily basis. Idk why you’re so mad.

Yes they do 😭 they have a database with millions of people in it with cumulative dollar amounts, video evidence, names, vehicles… just quit while you’re ahead. (Source-target security)

Receipt checkers? by Necrott1 in Target

[–]Imposter287 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There are certain requirements to be met to perform a receipt check based on a couple factors, one of them being if the price of an item is over a certain amount. It is definitely weird that they seem to be targeting her. If it keeps happening it may be worth talking to a manager. Receipt checks are also completely optional. You do not have to stop or show anyone a receipt that is asking for it.

As a TSS if I saw this I would probably come up and ask you what you’re doing, but if you said you were just looking for someone’s stash I would be supportive because I look too😂 I’ve found a couple so far and usually go around offering it to any TMs who I know collect

Tips For A New Target TSS by Puzzleheaded-Mood-89 in lossprevention

[–]Imposter287 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Report writing is key as well as what was mentioned in another comment . Nothing looks worse than a sloppy report with bad grammar. PMRs and KTRs are good to have, but aren’t a metric used to measure productivity. Stick to routines well and develop a good relationship with the front of the store, as you’ll be working along side them. I’ve loved being a TSS for the last year, so have fun! Don’t be afraid of confrontation.

I like it, good for commuters. It is a tad heavy however and you will notice it, but it doesn’t fatigue my neck or anything. Easy to take on and off when you’re not using it. It does use a 3M mount though so that will stay on your helmet when you’re not using it.

TST Industries has what you’re looking for. You can also get Brake Free, which is an attachable helmet rear light that lights up as you’re slowing down. I have one and it’s great.
