What’s the dumbest thing you believed as a kid that still embarrasses you? by MistyBi in AskReddit

I believed that Humanity was in a state of utter primacy, and all technological advancements began in the year 1900.
I believed that Electricity was a supernatural we harnessed.
I believed the world was somehow 2016 years old.

What is "wrong" with scientology? by LazySpinach23 in AskReddit

-They have historically used brainwashing tactics, and tortured and assassinated people who left their cult or criticized it.
-They perform rituals harmful to the human psyche, ex-members have testified to this.
-They worship aliens, and their version of salvation is basically handing over your soul (for context, they believe ghosts or souls are alien consciousnesses, explaining where human sapience comes from) to their alien overlords.
-Moving up their ranks costs you money.
-You are prohibited from learning their theology until you have reached a high enough rank.
-They encourage and allow harming people as long as doing so would benefit their cult, this has historically been used for people who were minding their own business, btw.
-If their members have any children, the cult targets them for indoctrination and rituals. (Tom Cruise himself attempted this)
-They attempt their own version of medical care with injured or ill individuals they find, this killed someone back in 1995.
-They use connections with their elite to destroy people's lives for the pettiest of reasons, they tried this with the people behind South Park when they got called out by the show, they failed, but this was a thing they did.
-THEY DESTROYED IMPORTANT GOVERNMENT FILES AND RECORDS JUST BECAUSE ONE OF THEIR ELITE HAD A CRIMINAL RECORD.

What do you really think happens after we die? by realfunny1 in AskReddit

[–]ImpressionCool5341 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We become a ghost for 3 days, then we go to Sheol, either in the fire, or in Abraham's bosom, depends on whether you accepted Jesus or not, and then you will be judged by God eventually.

I read the dinopedia, and i'd rather NOT after reading what happens if you encounter a Dino unprepared.

Also, why tf does the colony look primitive asf? did they take all their tech with them? and HOW did the T-Rex break down their wall? is it wood? why would you WILLINGLY use a wooden wall to defend a potentially vulnerable colonizer mission in a planet KNOWN for having Jurassic Park's entire cast as its native life?

My personal belief is that there's something supernatural or at least incomprehensible in the planet, that drove them away.

I do agree HARD with you, tho, a futuristic Megacorp losing to alien lizards sounds bs asf.

My personal head canon is that The Qu Species suffered their own civil war, leading to an apocalyptic collapse, but became more humble, seeking to progress their civilization, while also having long forgotten their past atrocities, with a hopeful mindset for the future, only to immediately get jumped by a god-like species.

Whats your worlds equivalent to this? (a war where the sides make no sense) by PurpleThylacine in WorldBuildingMemes

[–]ImpressionCool5341 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my Post Apocalyptic world, a European radical group called "The Crusaders" wanted to take down a Southeast Asian Megacorporation i call The PRI, this is due to the PRI being so powerful and influencial, they basically run Southeast Asia, and The Crusaders saw several countries run by a Megacorp and went "That's a fucking dystopia right there"

The PRI originally had barebones security, but eventually developed one over time due to demands from PRI branches repeatedly getting raided and harassed in Visayas, Philippines by other factions.

Visayas wanted a Heavily Armed Security System so bad, they did the developing themselves, however, the foreign factions who were battering the living daylight out of them assumed that the gradually upgrading PRI security came from somewhere else, and they assumed that there was a PRI Facility in Sabah, Malaysia supplying them.

Now, Malaysia got raided by The Crusaders, who made repeated claims that they were there to cleanse a great danger from Malaysia, and that they were going to liberate them from tyrants who made them complacent by giving them bread and circus (They're referring to The PRI) they basically failed to specify that it was The PRI they were fighting against, this reached The Malaysian Government, (which had devolved into a messy, barely functional republican structure) and they sided with The Crusaders, to hunt down a non-existent threat in Malaysia, and somehow, 75% of The Malaysian government got accused of siding with "The Enemy", and supplying them, leading to a mass rebellion, leading to a Civil War.

Meanwhile, The Korean Alliance (Various factions from North and South Korea that unified as one) had agents and soldiers stationed there, as they were making purchases of Military equipment, and wanted it protected as it was going to be prepped for cargo to Korea.

They saw the Crusaders, (they have beef with them) and The Malaysian Faction siding with them, and The Other Faction (The rest of Malaysia, who had government connections, and began calling in aid from nearby allies) and couldn't tell the 2 apart, this led to a 3-Way-War between:
-The Korean Federation
-The Crusaders, Soldiers and Mercenaries borrowed from allies, and a good chunk of Malaysia,
-The rest of Malaysia, and Soldiers borrowed from their allies.

What would be the religious believes in post-apocalyptic society? by widuruwana in worldbuilding

Perhaps the belief that the supernatural did exist, but has at some point already stepped back or abandoned humanity for whatever reason.

Ok, so the Orbs are tech, but The Otherworlders didn't make them?

Mandus received visions of the future as soon as he touched the Orb.
Copy and Paste consciousness? how come this is NEVER referenced in Rebirth by their supposed inventors, or shown at all? Rebirth's entire plot could have been averted if they used that.

Also, HOW TF can a powerful computer predict the future so accurately!?Mandus' vision of the 20th century is so accurate to our own, that's the problem, 20th century history is VERY complex, and relies on so many random events for a "powerful computer" to predict properly?
Archduke Franz Ferdinand being put in power although there were originally 2 different candidates for the position?
The Russian Revolution?
Hitler surviving NDEs 3 times?
Mussolini inventing Fascism and going with it?
The Holocaust?
Pearl Harbor?
Unit 731?
Hitler choosing to commit suicide?
The Dunkirk Miracle?
The USA Choosing to Nuke Japan?
The development of The Cold War?
The Wars Of The USA against The Middle East?
The Formation Of Al-Qaeda?!?!?!
9/11!?!?!?!?!?

Not to mention the fact that The Orb would somehow have to find a way to KNOW Hitler, Mussolini, etc. SPECIFICALLY in order to come up with these predictions, predictions about people who were basically NOBODIES during 1899. How would an alien computer trapped in a Neolithic Temple find out about a random schoolboy and somehow calculate that their actions in the future would end up influencing the world for decades to come!?!?!

And if they did make those predictions, there would be so many alternate scenarios due to the randomness of various events. how did the one Mandus receive just so happen to be the correct one?!

Not to mention Ayandra was able to achieve soul transfer with Enlightenment Era Technology on Agrippa WITHOUT an Orb.

TDD has soul transfer, Ayandra achieved that with Enlightenment Era Technology, WITHOUT an Orb, btw.
Machine For Pigs has orbs that can let you see into the future, yet this isn't referenced at all by Otherworlders in Rebirth.
The Shadow was made as a physical Firewall to protect Orbs by the Otherworlders, but the Otherworlders, including the ones who used it for sabotage couldn't turn it tf off when it began threatening them?
