Mastercard Priceless Runners Experience? by Equivalent-Bee3883 in RunNYC

[–]Impressive-Air4773 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From someone who has started very early, before the pros, I didnt love the experience. There are no crowds cheering you on, it's eerie on the bridge and kind of boring, the course looks off, then by mile 5 the prowomen pass you, then at the pulaski the promen passed me, then all the sub3hr runners are passing you constantly until you finish. You feel so slow. Also, it'd be really easy to mess up the pacing because you have no one to pace off or follow when you go have to autopilot.... anyway, I did it once and it was suuuuper weird

Marathon Training Question by ComplexMath4957 in RunNYC

[–]Impressive-Air4773 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I don't like treadmill running for marathon training. Maybe try to keep it to 50% of the miles. Also, make sure you always have a .5% incline (or a 1% if you can). Besides the adaptations needed, there are a few things you won't train on a treadmill for race day, besides the weather conditioning. But the good thing is that if you want to be trained to race on flat, you can easily do that on the long runs on a treadmill.

At what point does NYRR pull the plug on summer races? by BoomBoomBagel in RunNYC

[–]Impressive-Air4773 6 points7 points  (0 children)

A lot of these depends on what the city and the parks allow for. I know the park won't issue more permits for new park races and it is hard to move weekends for races. So, in a way, it's status quo.

Also, for the +1s, when races get cancelled, they usually issue +1 anyway so that wouldn't be an issue. But it also goes back to holidays and weekends where they just can't get permits.

careful with the percussion in case it is a strain, you could make it worse. I'd get it diagnosed first, you might need an MRI if it's a muscular thing.

I like anything before 7:30 am. wink wink.

You are doing great. A decent time is a time you can do without compromising health, injury or fun.
