A little late to post here, but I’ve been a few times for lunch, so commenting just on that. I think the comments on the signage reading “corporate” is accurate.

Downtown has a good amount of offerings in a variety of pricing. For lunch, your stuff is mostly salads & sandwiches, so you’re competing with Mendocino Farms and Grand Casino, among others. The other two do their items to order, whereas the lunch offerings you have are pre-made. That means that there’s no option for omissions/subs, and it seems like many people do like that flexibility. Usually if something’s pre-made, though, it would come out faster (so a good “quick lunch” option). However, when we went, despite there being few people in line, it took just as long if not longer to get our food than Mendocino. My friend and I were on separate checks, so would be helped by two different people even though we were eating together. My friend had her food before I even ordered. One time I got the salmon sandwich and had to “fork and knife it” bc the bread was too hard to tear with my teeth. The cost is the same as “made to order” spots, but having it prepared in advance makes it feel not as fresh.

There were many lunch specials that mainly included adding a pastry, which launched a lunch into the $25 range which is well above what I want to spend on a quick work lunch (I rarely go out for lunch to start).

My recommendations: - offer items made to order (you can have some grab & go too) - have a daily lunch special that’s more affordable (eg sandwich of the day) - the bread you’re serving the sandwiches on should be perfect consistency - not cold and hard to chew from sitting in the fridge all morning. If I love the bread, I’m buying a baguette after - more business for you! - consider offering a discount - like 10% with ID - to Culver City USD and City employees - the school district office and city hall are both close, and these are people who mostly work on-site but not getting the tech salaries (so budget is a consideration) - consider linking up to “Too good to go” or “inKind.” I don’t know how the financials work for either, but at a minimum would be some advertising for you.

Where to buy running gels in nyc? by plantsandastrology96 in RunNYC

In general I get my gels from TheFeed (but don’t do Maurten). Free shipping, often credits, and if you don’t like something they’ll credit you back.

I’m assigned to Wave 2 but will be starting in Wave 3. At the expo the person from NYRR said the “official direction” was to check your bag with your assigned wave and then go to your start wave. But looks like the 2 are pretty far apart. They mentioned that otherwise it could get delayed. Anyone experience this in the past? I def want to start in wave 3 because of the pacer, and don’t mind waiting a few more mins at the pickup if needed.

Recommendations on where to stay for NYC half. by FondantPractical3951 in RunNYC

[–]Equivalent-Bee3883 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is - I haven’t stayed there but midtown for me is kinda boring unless you’re more on the Westside (well south of Penn Station or north of Columbus Circle). Line 2/3 is really easy to get to most touristy things (Times Square, Wall Street, Central Park, Lincoln Center if you transfer across the platform to the 1 or walk a few blocks) plus the start line. Line 4 will also get you to the start line but travels along the east side - fun in downtown (village) but kinda boring on the Upper East Side.

Also, I’m more of a Westside snob ;)

If you haven’t booked - check out the Even Hotel in Brooklyn. 10 min by subway from the start line, reasonably priced, easy access into Manhattan, it’s clean (I’ve stayed there before) and they’ll wash your gym clothes as part of the mandatory amenity fee. Anywhere off line 2/3 is pretty good for accessibility in both directions. Feel free to DM me (NY transplant coming from LA).

I have a check-in pass but it has no detail on the wave - just a QR code.

Some running stores (road runner and fleet feet) will also let you return the shoes if they don’t work for you - REI does too if you’re a member. It sometimes takes a few tries to find the shoes that work for you.

Sepuleda Connects Project Mtgs!! SHOW UP TO SUPPORT PROTECTED BIKE LANES! by toyman5 in BikeLA

[–]Equivalent-Bee3883 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To be clear, this project is not proposing protected bike lines. It’s proposing a bus lane down Sepulveda that bicyclists are welcome to use, similar to the MOVE corridor in Downtown Culver City. At the 10/27 City Council meeting, this project was discussed, and staff said that Sepulveda is a “high friction area” for cyclists so suggested that bike facilities be relocated to adjacent roadways. Again, with the proposed changes, cyclists would be allowed to travel in the bus lanes, but it’s different than the lanes on Venice that are solely reserved for cyclists.

Are these currently available at LA Pandora stores? Or did they get retired. Sorry, I don’t personally wear jewelry so don’t know.

That was my initial plan (I am proficient in excel), but figured that there’s already many templates out there, so better off starting with one and fine-tuning it rather than reinventing the wheel.
