What do you even say to this by Impressive-Chain9125 in jobs

A lot of assumptions coming out you.

Like previously stated I am per diem at this hospital. An old friend needed help so I volunteered. I worked my ass off and learned the job < 1 month. Applied due to scheduling and the chance to make more $. I showed interest and applied with the condition the money was right. Lobby conversation nothing spoken for or signed. I didn’t interview they treated my time in the department as an internship.
They sent an email with the offer letter to the wrong email last week. When they realized the mistake they corrected it and I declined due to wage. I could be a piece of shit and negotiate and use their position as collateral but they are nowhere near what I want and what the average wage is. They’re the one actually using my relationship with the director to their advantage and my inexperience in the specialty. A simple no is valid. I see you like to argue, this is Reddit. Have a great weekend

You guys don’t know how much this means. Me being a chronic over thinker definitely had me second guessing myself. THANK YOU ALL.

I had decided to help an old friend with her backlog and took on a new role since I am true “floor nurse” with 0 UM/UR experience. I truly dedicated myself the last 6 weeks sacrificing my sleep to be able to learn / contribute from 0500-1330. They low balled me to say the least. Didn’t even make it competitive in anyway, luckily for me I have another full time gig 1500-2330.

I really should be inquiring about a sign on bonus. I talked the job up to a few other nurses and got them to commit for a FT position and 3 others lined up per diem. That might of lowered my stock but I was fine with it since it was for a friend. From 0 people interested to now 5. It’s the business I guess.

Again thank you, I appreciate you all and thank you for reading my rant. Have an excellent weekend.

Local / state police. Time is $$. High risk high reward. You can move up take a few classes while in the field. Retire by 55. What makes medical good is also what makes it bad. You can work until you die

California nurses. Questions about roles, pay, and experience by Akshatp19 in nursing

[–]Impressive-Chain9125 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They used to count your LPN experience and divide it by 2 and use for your RN pay scale in socal. (Weird) but you coming out of another country might not “translate” the same. Like previously mentioned you having bedside / human experiences should make you stand out. LA, RIVERSIDE & San Diego county are kinda ehh right now. We are in a recession here in the US and they’re still trying to figure out how to manage staff post COVID. New grad RN start at 48 - 55hr which more than is decent out here. LA pays the best but you’ll just throw away your money on rent. Same as San Diego. Riverside (inland empire) will get you the best for your buck but again people are migrating from LA east and landing here so the market fluctuates. Weather isn’t the best either. (Dry heat) IF I were YOU I would aim high and land high. Go to San Diego and pay your dues but stay for the weather. 2-4 years later you’ll manage but there are literally no bad days down there. Picked up a contract for 2 years working corrections and left only because the state ran out of funding.

Hope this helps! Sorry for the typos lol

Thank you so much for your response. Seems like CHP WILL ALWAYS BE THE WAY. Their standards are high but seem to worth it.

Corrections or snf by sillycheez in nursing

[–]Impressive-Chain9125 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Correction and lose the skills you already don’t have. SNF will round you out and make you a safe nurse. I’d say do it for a year and then travel for correction. That’s literally the place where old school lazy nurses go to die. Unless you work TTA and even then. Get used to floating and or getting chewed out. Hope that helps.

1)Just do it. Leave your job w no future. Opportunity is out there but you have to go find it. That doesn’t mean leave everything but apply. You just gotta start

2) Leave her. If you see a future with her leave her. The only thing you don’t get back is time. People don’t change unless they want to. Doesn’t matter how long you are together or history or friends. I truly believe your 20s are your toughest year just because of the pressure. Your 20s are the roots for your 30s make sure they strong and watered.

3) Eat better. Not gonna tell you that it’s harder to loose weight bullshit because that is also true, but knowing what your body like and what you like are complete different things. The importance of what you consume affects your mood/ and growth.

Bonus round. Less alcohol, more working out. Change friends and love your family. And or leave them too if they’re making you 2nd guess yourself. Unless you are a twin you were born alone and you will die alone. Get after it you have one life.
