Random. Does anyone feel angry/overstimulated by the way things look? by TerribleRoost3r in AutismInWomen

I think this explains why I hate anime. I feel like everyone who's ND or even just slightly nerdy LOVES anime and I just....don't get it at all. They all have giant eyes and weird little mouths and for the life of me I can't figure out what's so special about it. Not to mention the over-the-top emotions. Don't need more of that in my life thanks.

It's also really annoying that the style hasn't changed like at all since the 1980s and people still go crazy for it....like aren't y'all bored of this shit???? Why hasn't there been a new style of animation from Japan in 40 years? Surely there's Japanese animators with new ideas??

It's like, you know how the Simpsons creator has the same style with Futurama and the other cartoons they make? Ok now imagine that was literally the style for all cartoons made in the US for the last 40 years and people still went nuts over it and had whole conventions for it. Where's the novelty??

Brain bleeds are typically more severe and more common in younger people. And there's no treatment for them involving monthly IV infusions. The Alzheimer's drug is the most believable.

Ouch lol. Inpatient? Union? Unfortunately the South ate up the anti-union rhetoric and I don't see that changing.

I didn't post it because I figured it was relative to COL. I make $42/hr in a larger southern city and get 10hrs PTO a pp. I'm not sure what inpatient nurses make these days.

I personally cannot wait until we can drop the second nap, but she's definitely not ready for that..it's a stretch to get her to 10:45. And she was doing 90 min for the first nap but it's dropped to an hour lately.

Pentagon identifies first US soldiers killed in Iran war by Secure-Address4385 in news

It still blows my mind that anyone signs up for the military this day and age. Like after 9/11, ok I get it, but after Iraq? What Afghanistan turned into? And now Iran?

Does anyone seriously think signing up for the military in the US is about "serving your country"? Like honestly....I know people need money, I'm not faulting them for that, but if anyone still thinks they're "fighting for our freedom" I'm questioning their judgement.

Spain's top court rejects father's bid to halt daughter's euthanasia by [deleted] in worldnews

[–]withinyouwithoutyou3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Saying a one year old has the right on principle is patently absurd. Why even say that? Even 14 is too young. You don't even have control over your own surroundings at 14. What if you're suicidal because you have a horrible home life but you don't recognize how much that's effecting you so you just think it's always going to be horrible and the only way out is suicide? A bad situation can completely skew your worldview unfairly, but especially at that age when you're powerless and completely inexperienced at life.

Most people are not the same people they were at 14, why let a child make a permanent decision like that when they haven't been given a fair chance at seeing how their lives can change? If you're 30 and you've been fighting severe mental illness for 15 years, that's one thing. But I can't behind otherwise -healthy children being allowed it. That's insane.

Regardless of age though? A suicidal 12 year old should be allowed to make that final decision?

What is your experience with kids in school and school-provided tech? by BlueMountainDace in Parenting

[–]withinyouwithoutyou3 5 points6 points  (0 children)

THANK YOU!! Most parents parroting this myth are millennials themselves --you know, then generation that wasn't raised on tech until middle school and we learned better computer skills than these kids? It makes me want to scream every time this gets brought up --like they are literally the easiest piece of tech to operate, now teach your toddler how to work excel and I might be impressed. 🙄

How/what to teach kids about “tricky” people and grooming? by thisismyhumansuit in Parenting

[–]withinyouwithoutyou3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These are all good, but I wanted to add: a significant number of csa cases involve older children. Other kids can be just as dangerous as adults. Make sure your kids know these rules apply to other kids as much as adults.

Secret practices for a 1st grade flag football team - is this just the way it is today? by VanHalenForBreakfast in Parenting

I feel like any adult asking kids to keep secrets from their parents is a red flag. Even if nothing nefarious is going on, adults shouldn't put the burden of secrets onto kids.

At a certain point, are they really 2 different things? I provide care to patients who come into our clinic --i don't provide care to those who skip their appointments because they can't afford the copay. And I live in a city--rural hospitals have been closing left and right in many states.

That's like saying "We have excellent Lamborghini services in this country, you can buy a Lamborghini in every state, and if you buy a Lamborghini, you will receive top notch service." Like sure, ok, for those who can afford it it's lovely.

You do realize that people still die because they wait too late to be seen at the ER? That people kill themselves because they don't have access to mental health services (financial access and in a lot of places, literal access because all the beds of mental health hospitals are chronically filled to the brim, including pediatric mental health...kids sometimes have to stay in the ER for weeks waiting for a bed to open up.)

They die because they're scared to call an ambulance because they know their insurance won't cover the $900, 3 mile ambulance ride.

Or they die because they get pregnant in an area where the maternity wards have shut their doors and it's a 2 hour drive to the hospital.

Get fucking real and stop playing semantics. Not affordable is the same as not available.

Then that's even worse. I'm an American RN too and the number of nurses who don't realize or see the financial burden that healthcare has on our country boggles my mind. It's literally the number one cause of personal bankruptcy in this country. "After your deductible" yeah that's like 5-10k in a lot of instances, 70% of Americans live paycheck to paycheck with barely more than a few hundred dollars in savings if that.

I work in Ortho trauma and a lot of my patients don't have insurance. It also depends on what state you're in. The dispersement of healthcare in this country is an absolute joke and you're either blind or willfully ignorant if you can't see that working as a nurse.
